We were hired to repair or replace the lock on your sliding doorWhen the technician showed up he looked at the problem and determined that it was un repairable and told the customer that we would have to order the lockWhen we found the replacement part we contacted the customer to give them a price for the part (it was expensive and we didn't want to surprise them with the price)She stated that she would let us know if she wanted to move forwardWe waited for a return call and never received it, so we called her and told her that she owed us for a trip charge since we could have gotten the part and completed the job, but they decided not to do the repairALL mobile service companies charge a mobile feeThey may call it something else$ is not unreasonable and if they had asked a price ahead of scheduling the job, they would have been given a price INCLUDING the mobile fee

Lock was not broken-handle was brokenThe repairman told me over the phone, the price would be $How did I know this company was a mobile service company? How did I know this company charges a mobile fee, when nothing was mentioned about this fee or any other fee, at the time I calledWe did not ask for a price ahead of scheduling the job because we didn't know we had to.P.SThe screen door repairman's company quoted us a price to fix the screen door over the phone ahead of time that the screen door was actually fixed and he fixed the handle on the sliding glass door for free (a minute job). I'm responding to your letter dated 11-19-When I called Sacramento Locksmith, I said it was the handle that was broken, "not the lock", but since the handle and lock were all piece, I didn't know what to call the lady who answered the phone asked me for the measurements of the handleI gave them to her over the phone. A repairman came out and stated the handle was brokenHe left and came back with the same handle I had looked at the previous day at Home Depot (which won't work). He then said he would check his catalogs for something to fit on the sliding doorHe called back and quoted a price of $but the handle was white and not the oyster color. I said I would get back to himThey then sent a bill for $(the original work order showed $82.50) for a service charge. It was never mentioned that there was a service charge during the original phone call and I never signed an acknowledgement of a service charge or a mobile service charge.Another repairman who was re-screening a sliding screen door next to the sliding glass door, said he could fix the handle by drilling a hole in the existing handle and putting a screw in itThis worked out great and the problem was solvedHe said it took him minutes to fix and anyone could have done the same thingHe never charged me anything.*** ** ***

Review: To Whom It May Concern:

On approximately 10-21-14 I called Sacramento Locksmith Service to repair or replace a broken handle on the locking mechanism of a sliding glass door.

A workman was sent out and he determined the handled needed to be replaced. He measured the handle spacing and returned with one that didn't fit. I had taken the broken handle to home depot but could no find one to fit and nothing in their store catalog either.

I was sent a bill for $82.50 for a "service charge." I feel I should not pay this since nothing was done to fix the problem.

I was NOT INFORMED of a service charge when I called their business, NOTHING was mentioned of a service charge over the phone or by the serviceman at our house. I never signed an agreement to such a charge, as you can see by the enclosed "copy" of the "work order."Desired Settlement: Therefore I am not agreeing to paying this charge.

Sincerely, [redacted]
