Sacramento Natural Foods Co-op Reviews (3)

Good Morning,We have attached the evaluation that *** provide at completion of the Kids & Teens Holiday treats classIt is accurate that this particular evaluation was not signed, however our instructors and and cooking school managers are very familiar with *** and have taught her over the past three yearsShe has over the years provided many evaluations and personal notes so we are quite familiar with handwritingShe always signs with a smiley face example here-- :) meIf the Revdex.com would find it helpful we are happy to email previous evaluations that *** has submitted. We stand by our position to not offer the *** family a refund for this classWe feel strongly that facts that we have submitted are true and correctWe take great pride in our program and it is unfortunate that the *** family feels differently. Thank you for your time

Mr. [redacted] requested a refund for a cooking class his daughter attended on her own, claiming that a refund is warranted because the goods were defective, due to children preparing food without proper hand washing. All of the instructors have issued statements that the children washed their hands...

prior to cooking, as well as during class as needed. When a few students touched their faces/hair, they were instructed to wash their hands again. Mr. [redacted]'s daughter filled out a class evaluation stating that she enjoyed the class. She did consume  the food made in class and asked for seconds which she was granted. She brought home some extras to share, and this is the product that Mr. [redacted] is referring to that was returned to us.The classes are given for educational purposes and not for the purchase of goods. In an email dated 12/23 Mr. [redacted] said " .. the course description it does not say unsupervised." The class was not unsupervised. There were 4 instructors for the 16 students, and the instructors always begin each class going over proper hand washing and kitchen safety. This class was no different, according to the statements provided by the instructors. In his complaint to the Revdex.com, he also states, "The children participating were supervised by adults." This is contrary to his earlier claim, that the children were unsupervised. He states that his child could not eat the food in the class. As stated earlier, his daughter enjoyed the food in class, and she asked for and was given seconds.  The customer claims that a limited amount of food was offered to the children. Again, this is not the case. His daughter enjoyed seconds, and even got to take extra home. It is our practice to serve sample sized portions of dishes made in each class. It is not our practice to distribute more than this to our students, regardless of whether or not there is leftover prepared food or ingredients. We strive to be consistent in our classes, and offer a similar portion sized sample to all students. The customer has complained about this practice before, and I personally spoke to him about it explaining the above reasons. We continuously strive to improve our program, and when customers bring legitimate complaints to our attention, we are happy to issue a refund or a credit for another class. In this case, because the customer's complaints do not reflect the reality of the situation, we do not feel that this is a reasonable refund request.Tell us why here...

I am rejecting this response because:  Unsupervised classThe few students who worked with my daughter did not wash their hands, touched their face, hair and licked their fingers throughout class. Not all of the students were instructed to wash their hands. Hand washing activity was unsupervised. For this reason I stated the class was unsupervised.  Untrue statementsMy daughter did not give her name to any survey for this class. My daughter put no comment in with her name on it. My daughter asked for seconds and only received seconds for the apple cider which was made by the instructor of the class. The class product of cookies and peppermint bark was brought home then returned the next day, untouched. My daughter did not bring home extra of any of the class goods made.  My daughter noticed that several trays of their cookies were brought to the back of the facility. When the other children asked for seconds, they were refused with the reason that there was not enough.  This class does not meet the description because there is nothing in the class description which says children will be deceived.  Instructors did not go over the proper procedure of handling food or washing hands. In previous co-op cooking classes, washing hands use to be mentioned at the start of cooking class then repeated. This class waited until the middle of the class when my daughter reminded the instructors. She did so after seeing the children in her group put their hands through their hair and put their fingers to their mouth, then placed their fingers in the powdered sugar and cookie dough. InconsiderateWe, (my daughter and I both present,) spoke with the co-op cooking school a year previously and were shown concern and treated with kindness when a similar issue was brought to their attention. This time our comment was disregarded.  The distractions of lack of cleanliness and withholding of food when there was enough by saying there was not enough made my daughter’s time unpleasant. Thanking instructors for the class and their time is an act of courtesy. Being thankful does not mean she enjoyed her time.
