Saddleback Memorial - San Clemente

Review: I'm writing to file a complaint against San Clemente Hospital, a division of Saddleback Memorial.

On June 23rd 2015 I went in to preregister for surgery that was to occur the following day. The representative told of San Clemente Hospital informed me that in order to proceed with the surgery the following morning I would need to pay my portion of the bill in full in the amount of $5700. I paid the amount and had the surgery thinking that this was my portion of what was owed from insurance as informed by the employee of San Clemente Hospital. Two days later I received notice from my insurance company that the surgery had been submitted and the portion that I owed was around $2700 and that insurance was covering $3000 of the bill.

The fact that I was being charged an estimate was not explained to me nor was the fact that I would be refunded the difference of the two amounts. I assure you I am not writing to complain of getting money back.

It is now August 19th and I have received no refund.

The hospital administration was contacted on August 1st, and I was informed that Insurance had paid it's portion and I was due my refund in 7-14 days, a message was left with customer service management which was never returned.

It has now been 19 days and I have received no refund.

I called the hospital administration today and was informed now that the refund would be issued in 6-8 weeks.

All of this is extremely unacceptable. From the quality of information and explanations given to the customer about billing to the attention and care of the customer service given this business is operating fraudulently.Desired Settlement: I would like this business to properly inform it's customers of there operations in the future. I will never give my business to this hospital or any other Saddleback Memorial institution ever again, but at least if they change their practice people going through an already stressful situation won't feel cheated and ripped off.
