Safe 1 Credit Union

Mr. and Mrs. [redacted] had an auto loan with Safe 1 Credit Union which was opened on 12/1/2014.  In January of 2015, we began sending a series of letters to the member ([redacted]) outlining our policy of maintaining insurance on the vehicle we financed for them.  Over the course of the next two...

months, we continued to send letters asking for evidence of insurance and failed to receive it.  In March of 2015, we enforced our legal right to obtain insurance coverage to protect our collateral and charge the member’s loan for the expense of this coverage.  We also started to make a series of collection calls to the member which went unreturned.  On one occasion, we did speak to [redacted] and informed her of the delinquent account standing and she stated “she would pass the message on to [redacted].”  After not receiving any payments over the course of 4 months, we repossessed the vehicle.  While their monthly payment did increase as a result of us adding collateral protection insurance, the [redacted]’s failed to contact us regarding the letters we sent, failed to return our phone calls, and failed to make any sort of payment to their loan over a period of 4 months
