This company ([redacted] and Associates) and there owner [redacted] called me on a Thursday and her representative [redacted] (Husband) said and I quote, "I am looking for you to perform a miracle". My wife is moving her entire law firm with...

all her files to her home and storage. Everything must be out by Sunday.
I responded by saying that we were fully booked, but let me see if I can redirect resources to help her. She already had a team of students or day laborers attempting to do the job. They were going to move everything with 1 pick up truck. Were talking about a 2000 square foot office, with full sized wooden desks and legal files from over 15 years of practice.
The one thing I am learning is that people that call at the last minute do so because they do not want to pay what it takes to do the job. At the end of a job they find some reason to complain and refuse to pay. As a result we have now changed our policies about taking these types jobs.
Ms. [redacted] was provided with a 24 foot moving truck and over the course of the weekend anywhere between 6-10 workers plus myself. The amount of hours worked far exceeded the true amount of hours billed. Ms. [redacted] read, completed, and signed the agreement for services. She had her student helpers attempting to take items to her home and we were to move the items to storage.
Here is the course of the events:
1) 24 foot truck with 4 movers initially dispatched to the location.
2) 12 foot truck was dispatched for her team to load garbage to be taken to the dump. (This truck was allowed to remain there for over 24 hours FREE OF CHARGE). This truck makes $125/hour for our company when on the job.
3) We had to pack, load, and move hundreds of file boxes to our where house where we loaded them into storage vaults. Ms. [redacted] then declared that there were certain files she needed access to for a upcoming court case. We cleared 25 percent of the area of my storage facility within 3 hours to accommodate her request. We set up a filing system and relocated the desired files to shelves.
Safe Movers removed everything within the requested time line by the customer. Simultaneously we let her borrow valuable moving equipment for her helpers so that they could do their task more efficiently. All of this was a race to the finish with an extreme amount of chaos. Most companies give us 1 months notice to prepare for a move not 1 hour. Yet we stepped in and got the job done.
Once everything was in the warehouse we took photos of everything that came off the truck. This was done by both her husband and myself. She felt that she did not want to pay for items that were disposed of so she and her husband made decisions on what to throw away and what to store. During this entire time my loading dock and storage facility was completely blocked with her files and personal items.
Afterwards the husband approved the items to be removed and taken to the dump. IN THE COMPLAINT SHE SPEAKS OF A LOST PIECE OF FURNITURE. THE ITEM SHE IS SPEAKING OF IS NOT PRESENT IN ANY OF MINE OR HER HUSBAND'S PHOTOS. IT WAS NEVER BROUGHT TO MY WAREHOUSE. WE WERE NOT THE ONLY PEOPLE THAT HAD ACCESS TO THAT OFFICE. THERE WERE PROBABLY AT LEAST 20 OTHER PEOPLE MOVING THINGS OUT AND LOADING THEM ON TRUCKS. This was her wedge to start looking for some discount or reduction in the cost of the move.
After taking the directed items to the dump her furniture still occupied a space that was much larger than she wanted to pay for. So I said please move it out ASAP to where you want it to go. It cannot just sit here in the warehouse free of charge. There was no urgency for her to do this. She probably already knew at that time she did not intent to pay for the fees that were going to be due.
She had third party people enter my warehouse and select furniture that they wanted. During the course of these visits, Ms. [redacted] felt that something had been thrown out by mistake. Wanting to continue to work with my customer I GAVE HER ASSOCIATE ONE OF MY OWN PERSONAL PIECES OF OFFICE EQUIPMENT TO MAKE HER HAPPY AND THEN HAD IT LOADED BY MY PEOPLE TO THERE VEHICLE.
Once she decided on the space that was to her liking, she subsequently hired non licensed people to move her items out over the course of a weekend. Again, these individual were using my equipment and my workers were helping them without being on the clock.
They did not even return my moving blankets. If they had to remove the blankets and rewrap the items that would have doubled the load time so I just told her workers to make sure you bring my blankets back. They agreed and were thankful not to have to redo the extra work. After the move was completed the blankets were never returned. 50 blankets at $15 each is $750 of equipment that was stolen. We are in the process of filing a small claims case to receive compensation for these items and the remainder of the unpaid balance. Ms. [redacted] is an attorney so it is sad to see someone one of that profession treat a small business in the community this way when a larger corporate moving company a) Would not have responded to a 1 hour request b) The cost would have been at least 150% higher. Soon people will not have the option as smaller businesses get driven out of business by these practices.
Her staff continued to use my equipment and block my entire warehouse exit until it was completed. After the job was done she said she would be in touch. The next thing I knew I now see a complaint with no return of equipment, and no payment for the excess storage that was utilized.
Is this my reward for doing something that no other company in the Bay Area would have even attempted on short notice? Not to mention the last minute surcharges that are normally associated on a last minute move such as this.
We have over 300 5 star reviews on Yelp. Many of which are customers that we helped when others refused. This is a very large slap in the face and the accusations are totally unfounded.
If further testimony is required I have multiple witnesses to the events that transpired.
