Complaint: [redacted]
I am rejecting this response because: The wall in question was only 7 inches not 10. I never called Evans that day, I had called more than a month prior to starting that job.  That was only contact made to them.

The contractor called the City of Evans Building department to verify if the perimeter walls of a basement finish project would be...

required to have a slip joint (Or floating) space at the bottom of the wall. He was told by our inspector that as long as the walls were located at the perimeter and were over an existing concrete footing, the walls would not need to be floated. When our inspector arrived to perform the inspections, the only wall in question was a 10 foot section which was located roughly 10 inches from the concrete and was questionable whether it was located over a footing. All other perimeter walls were compliant. This was listed on the correction ticket along with an electrical correction for an outlet. This all occurred on June 20th, 2017. The contractor called the City of Evan that day, while our Building Official was in the office, he and our permit technician decided to stop over to see what the issue was. He determined that the wall in question was close to meeting the intent of the code and informed the contractor that he would accept the wall installation as it was constructed. While our Building Official was there, the electrical correction was completed so he re-inspected that and signed that off as well. So the contractor actually received two inspection in one day and help move his project along quicker, and allowed the contractor to continue with the insulation process. He never lost any down time but actually gained a day for not having to re-call the inspection back in. So…the contractors request for any repayment for losing a day of work is unfounded. SAFEbuilt prides itself in working with homeowners and contractors to help them get through these types of projects in the most cost effective way. Please allow this response letter to show that SAFEbuilt worked with this contractor and went over and above what other building departments would have done. Please feel free to contact me with any follow up questions or concerns about this complaint. In our opinion this complaint is unjustified. SAFEbuilt would also ask that a response from the Revdex.com be sent to verify that this complaint is unwarranted and not justified.  Sincerely, Russ W[redacted]Colorado Operations ManagerSAFEbuilt[redacted]
