On 1-13-2015 I windshield was chipped by a rock that flew up from under a tire of a car driving in front of me on highway 17 N. Paramus.
The next day I called Safelite who took all of my information and secured a pre-approval for glass repair and schedule an appointment for 1-21-2015 @ 2:30PM.
I confirmed with customer service on phone that the insurance would be covering it. ( I would not have gone to Safelite if insurance did not cover it.)
I confirmed prior to service on 1-21-2015 at shop that it would be covered. I left with a repair receipt and with a satisfactory opinion.
Upon arriving home, I realized that the rubber brake cover for the braking foot pedal had been removed from my vehicle. I called Safelite the next day to report this and went to the shop the following Monday. I then called the shop who had informed me they had no idea where it could be. They did say that it was possible that when they vacuumed the floor mat that it could have been sucked up off the floor and would have been thrown away by now... and that if I wanted to speak to the manager that I could come in on Monday. That explanation made no sense so, my guess was that they either threw it away by mistake or stole it. By Monday when I finally went into Safelite to check... I had already resolved not to be angry and to just replace it (not so easy).
Nothing, had been said about payment on any communication with Safelite.
A few weeks ago (4 months later) I received a letter stating that I owed $69.55 because Pallisade Auto "declined payment". I was sure that it was a mistake and sent a letter back with my insurance policy number. I then began to receive annoying calls from automated systems asking me to call back. When I would call back, they would place me on hold; this is ridiculous and rude.
So, today, for the first time... I spent the time needed to try and straighten this out. It took 4 phone calls: 3 to Safelite and 1 to Prudential (the actual insurance company) with multiple tranfers in between.
Once Plymouth Rock was finally able to provide a dispatch# to [redacted]. (in Safelite billing), [redacted] said everything was taken care of. When I asked [redacted] how the phone conversation would be acknowledged, he said it wouldn't and that it wouldn't be necessary. I said that I needed a receipt so that I would be harassed any further and for me to provide to credit reporting agencies. He said he was unable to provide such.
After the call ended I decided to call back and ask for a receipt... I was bounced around and around until finally, someone in Hasbrouck Heights Service Dept realized that I was not going to stop and said he would get back to me.
I just now have been issued the receipt via email. NO ONE SHOULD BE PUT THROUGH THIS KIND OF STRESS! Especially when there catch phrase is, "Everything we do is centered on keeping things simple, convenient and stress-free for you."
The technicians did a decent job... the customer service, approval, billing and collection procedure is STRESSFUL and atrocious!
