CUSTOMER [redacted] CAME TO SHOP SEPT 2012,ASKED IF WE WOULD WORK ON DEISELS? HA HAD A 1994[redacted] 6.5 L TURBO, THAT WOULD NOT CRANK OVER TO START.  HE TRIED SEVERAL
TIMES JUMP STARTING ENGINE BUT WOULD NOT TURN-OVER, ASKED IF HE COULD HAVE VEHICLE TOWED TO SHOP DUE TO THE FACT...

VEHICLE HAD BEEN SITTING IDLE FOR SEVERAL MONTHS.  TRUCK WASTOWED TO SHOP AT WHICH TIME, CHECKED ALL FLUIDS/STARTER- MOTOR WORKING BUT NOT TURNING ENGINE.  COOLENT  VERY LOW AND FOUND COOLENT IN OIL.  PULL STARTER, FLYWHEEL MISSING
5 TEETH, NOT ALLOWING STARTER TO ENGAGE.  CHECK ENGINE FOR PROBLEMS TO SEE WHY FLYWHEEL BROKE TEETH, TRY TO BAR ENGINE OVER, WILL NOT MOVE.  PULL GLOW PLUGS TO ADD OIL TO
CYLINDERS TO FREE UP.  #2 CYLINDER FILLED WITH COOLENT, HYDRO LOCKING ENGINE.  ADD COOLENT & FOUND IT RUNS OUT OF #2 CYLINDER GLOW PLUG HOLE.  WAIT FOR CUSTOMER TO COME IN TO
INFORM HIM OF PROBLEM.  TOLD HIM THAT EITHER HEAD GASKET/HEAD/ENGINE BLOCK IS BAD, EXPLAINED THAT REMAN ENGINE WOULD COST $7539.00 FOR DROP-IN, $4945.00 LONG BLOCK W/2 YR
WARRANTY & $3200.00 2/NO WARRANTY PLUS LABOR & FLUIDS, WOULD RUN $2500.00 - $3500.00.  CUSTOMER INFORMED US, HE WOULD NOT BE ABLE TO AFFORD THOSE OPTIONS.  [redacted] ASKED IF
THERE WERE A CHEAPER WAY TO REMEDY PROBLEMS.  INFORMED CUSTOMER WE CAN PULL HEADS OFF, SEND TO MACHINE SHOP TO CHECK OVER & CHECK BLOCK FOR CRACKS & GO FROM THERE.
INFORMED  CUSTOMER THIS WOULD TAKE TIME AS I, harry SAGER WOULD WORK ON VEHICLE WHENEVER I HAD TIME TO DO SO TO SAVE HIM LABOR TIME.
MID NOV 2012 REMOVED HEAD, SENT TO MACHINE SHOP, INFORMED MACHINE SHOP OF PROBLEMS, THEY WOULD CHECK HEADS AT THEIR CONVENIENCE FOR BETTER PRICE.  THREE WEEKS LATER, SHOP
INFORMED ME, HEAD HAS BAD       TO SEVERE CRACKS IN WATER JACKETS, WHICH WOULD NOT BE REPAIRABLE.  AT THIS POINT CALLED VARIOUS JUNK YARDS & CRAIGS LIST, FOUND OLD ENGINE AT ONE
OF MY OTHER CUSTOMER'S SHOP, THEY INFORMED I COULD HAVE ENGINE, PICK IT UP & BRING TO SHOP, PULL APART HEADS, SEND TO MACHINE SHOP, USED HEADS TESTED BAD, INFORMED MACHINE
SHOP TO CHECK AROUND, WHILE WAITING, CHEC K ENGINE BLOCK FOR CRACKS.  BLOCK OK.  DEC 23RD MACHINE CALLED, SAID THEY HAVE REFURBISHED HEADS FOR $975.00.  SPOKE TO [redacted] ABOUT
PRICING, HE SAID OK, AND GAVE ME $2100.00 DOWN-PAYMENT FOR PARTS.  mID JAN 2013 INSTALL HEADS & GASKETS, REPLACE BAD GLOW PLUG & INJECTOR, RETURN LINE LEAKING.  PULL TRANNY BACK
REPLACE FLYWHEEL & BROKEN TRANNY MOUNT.  TRY TO GET RUNNING, BOTH BATTERIES WEAK, REPLACE BATTERIES, BLEED SYSTEM.
GET RUNNING FEB 2013, TRUCK HAS NO POWER & BILLOWING BLACK SMOKE.  SPOKE TO [redacted] ABOUT PROBLEM, HE INFORMED ME THAT IT WAS AT ANOTHER SHOP DUE TO A BREAKDOWN & THEY REPLACED
THE FUEL INJECTION PUMP ON ENGINE & THAT IT DID NOT RUN CORRECTLY SINCE THEN, THAT WAS AS FEW MONTHS BEFORE HE PARKED IT AND DECIDED TO CALL OUR SHOP.
AT THIS POINT SAGER'S SERVICE CENTER HAS COMPLETED ALL THAT WAS ASKED OF THEM.  WE HAVE OVER 50 HOURS INTO THIS JOB, THE HEAD JOB & FLYWHEEL BOOK TIME IS 24 HOURS, THE REMAINING TIME WAS SPENT RUNNING TO MACHINE SHOP/LOOKING FOR PARTS/TEAR DOWN OF USED PARTS/PULL IN AND OUT OF DISABLED TRUCK.  DUE TO THE AMOUNT OF TIME INVOLVED, WE WILL NOT COUNT A LOT OF THIS TIME & ONLY CHARGE HIM $1300.00 FOR LABOR.  MACHINE SHOP DID NOT CHARGE FOR CHECKING HEADS DUE TO THE FACT THERE WAS NO RUSH.
THE PARTS & LABOR TO DATE ADD UP TO $3050.00 PLUS TAX WITH DOWN PAYMENT RECEIVED OF $2100.00.  AT THIS POINT, I TOLD [redacted] WE WILL CHECK & LET HIM KNOW.  THE TRUCK WAS PARKED FOR A FEW MONTHS DUE TO HIGH WORK LOAD.  I, HARRY S[redacted]-MANAGER, WAS THE ONLY ONE TO WORK ON TRUCK, SO THE BILL WOULD NOT BE HIGH.  OVER THE NEXT YEAR, I SWAPPED OUT PARTS THAT I FOUND USED BUT GOOD WORKING ORDER, AS TIME ALLOWED.
I PERSONALLY THINK, THE TRUCK NEEDS A NEW INJECTION PUMP, THAT WOULD RUN $1200.00, BEEN LOOKING FOR USED ONE EVER SINCE.[redacted] HAS BEEN STOPPING IN EVERY WEEK TO 2 WEEKS CHECKING IN ON TRUCK
