Sail Honeymoon Reviews (%countItem)

Our group was rented faulty equipment, and as a result one of the guys cut his feet, requiring medical treatment.
When: ***
Where: ***, ***, FL ***
Business: Rented 5 Kayaks for 4 hours @ $40

Worst/unprofessional personal experience I have had in the last 10 years. Group of us rented kayaks for 4 hours to head over to *** island. On the way back one started to take on water, and our guy was not able to stay up right any more. He had to swim for a nearby island, cutting his feet badly and eventually got rescued by a bystander on a jetski. (He had to go to a medical station later to get the cuts looked at).

When the rest of the group returned and told the employee working the desk what happened, his exact response was, "Well you better go back and get it or I am going to call the cops!" There was no reason to call the cops, when nothing illegal had been done.

I eventually flagged down a good Samaritan in a boat, and we were able to go retrieve the kayak. Upon finding it, I discovered that the water leak was from a bad repair job on the bottom of the kayak. (you could see where they had use some marine bondo, and the water leaking out through the crack once it was up on the boat).

So now I return to the shop with the defective kayak, and meet *** the owner. I tell him the story, and ask for a refund for everyone, after being threatened, and a 2 hour ordeal to retrieve his broken property. He says absolutely not, and when I asked him what he thought would be fair, his direct quote was, "how about I don't charge you a late fee, for bringing the boat back 2 hours late." He treated us extremely unprofessionally.

We negotiated for awhile, and him and his employee's continued to threaten to call the cops (for some reason), so my group finally called the bluff and called the cops for him. They showed up, and *** reluctantly refunded only the guy whose kayak was broken to begin with.

Desired Outcome

I would still like a refund for of the rest of the $160 dollars paid by the group, for the ordeal he and his company put us through. Additionally, to be paid another $300 dollars for the medical supplies, and the trip to medical.

Sail Honeymoon Response

I do not understand why the B B B would accept a proxy complaint?
We did rent 5 single kayaks to 5 individuals, paid separately, not a group.
Mr. rented one single kayak for 4 hours. He had no issue with the equipment he rented.
This complaint should be ignored on that basis alone. For clarity, I will fill in some of the facts, Mr. passed over.
The amount of alcohol consumed by members of this group will never allow the truth to be known.
Mr. actions and attitude made dealing with a difficult situation impossible.
The Sheriff's deputy being duly impresses by the drunken rants and miss matched accounts of events, told Mr. and his group to leave and not return. The deputy waited for their ride and escorted them off the Causeway!
Mr *** mentions going to a medical station, not a hospital, this is because they are active military and receive medical attention and supplies for free. When they are on leave, get drunk and hurt themselves, the tax payers provide their medical supplies. The request for 300.00 in someone else's medical supplies is nothing less than extortion and fraud.
As for the injuries, the person supposedly needing medical attention, he may have cut his foot, I don't know however, he never asked for as much as a band aid, a hose to rinse the cut or medical help of any kind. he put his shoes on and continued drinking. I watched him walk to the bathroom and back twice, more than 100 yards each time across uneven terrain, no once did I see him limp or make any facial expression of discomfort, he did however stumble from time to time.
Mr ***'s first words to us were military discount, first words to sheriff's deputy was active military, his group referred to my employees and other as civilians. He obviously believes active military status puts him above the law and grants him domain to badger, harass, bully and intimidate civilians if he does not get his way. Failing that he has started an internet campaign to discredit my business on review sites and now he is trying to use the Revdex.com to extort money.
This is internet bulling and blackmail!
I ask that the Revdex.com dismiss this complaint as unfounded.

Customer Response

(The consumer indicated he/she ACCEPTED the response from the business.)
I accept this response merely because I don't have time for petty antics. The owner of Sail Honeymoon was nothing but rude and unprofessional once we identified the problem. For clarification, it was my group who called the police because of the owners escalation of the situation. Claims that we were "drunk" are unsubstantiated and frankly untrue. Was I mad? Yes, but maintained professionalism. We calmly waited where he asked us to wait until the Police's arrival, and then called for an Uber and left as soon as it arrived. The police always wait, for the sake of both parties, for one to leave. The only reason we didn't leave immediately was because we did not have our own transportation.

The injured member of our party did have to seek medical attention outside of what the military provides and the 300 was for time and compensation of what he had to buy to take care of his wounds until he was able to seek military medicine. There is no extortion, that would imply a threat. I merely asked for the owner to compensate him for his time and personal expense. (Ps as of today 1SEP he is still dealing with the cuts on his feet)

This was not a "difficult" or "impossible" situation. A simple "I'm sorry the boat was busted and my employee threatened to call cops on" would've sufficed. Instead the owner was rude and tried to pass blame on anyone else but himself.

There is no internet campaign. Myself and others in my party used our 1st amendment to write our personal reviews of him and his business and our unhappiness with our treatment that day. I stand by every word that wrote.

I no longer care about the money, I am satisfied that "what goes around, comes around". I will not be using his business ever again, and therefore there is no further issue.

If any of my words are in doubt, I would be happy to pass along the testimony of the Naval *** who was one of the other members of the party that day. Good luck to you Mr., and I am just thankful that my guy was a good swimmer otherwise we would both have a lot more on our conscience.
