My son had a surgery at Saint Vincents' outpatient. He was released that same day. He has improved and we received a diagnosis after the surgery. It's actually the billing that has been the nightmare. First off I would like to point out that I have literally been billed for 2 of everything. I received a bill for the anesthesiologist and the medications he used, and then I was billed again for the anesthesiologist and the medications (in facility). Biopsies done by the lab, and then biopsies done in the lab (in facility). The real catcher of all this is the letter that was sent out about the company billing people twice. They admitted it had happened, but refuse to acknowledge that I was one of them. The illegal thing that they have done is billed me a full amount when my insurance had already paid. Now my sons surgery was almost a year ago and they informed me today that there is still pending insurance, which according to my insurance company there are no pending transactions. Someone please investigate this company for insurance fraud and scams please.
Review: On 02/19/2013 I had an endoscope. Several days prior to the procedure St. Vincents Hospital called me and told me the cost of the procedure would be $1100. I accepted the cost of the procedure as dictated by the hospital at $1100. After the procedure that was described by the doctor as routine, I waited for a bill to be sent by the hospital. None was sent, but my insurance company received a bill for $2445.15, and I received a bill for an additional $966.44 beyond the original quoted $1100. At the time of my procedure, I was told that I could deduct 10% from the $1100 if I paid the bill in full. Therefore, I sent a check marked paid in full to the hospital for$990.00. The check was cashed, yet I received additional bills. I called the hospitals business office and spoke to several people including supervisors questioning why a received an additional bill. All I got was the run around: a lot of buts, howevers, and excuses, but no acceptable reason for the change in the agreed upon price.Desired Settlement: I paid the bill for the charge I was quoted prior to the procedure minus the 10% that was also told to me. I want the hospital to accept my payment without any additional change as per what the hospital told me before the procedure.
