Great customer service
I went into the Tukwila branch because I was having some difficulties navigating the website. Ashnil helped me though my problems and when I got home and had some more difficulties, I called him and he helped me through it. In my opinion he went above and beyond.

An inactive account is an account that has had no member-initiated activity for at least one year. An account can be kept active in many ways:
Making a deposit or withdrawal
Signing into Online Banking
Visiting a branch   
Calling or writing the credit union

Washington State Unclaimed Property Act of 1983 a fee may be charged on inactive accounts provided there is 1) advance disclosure of the fee and the definition of an inactive account, 2) notification of the fee is made three months before the fee begins to be charged, and 3) the financial institution does not refund inactive account fees. Mr. [redacted]’ account was opened in July of 2013. The account opening disclosures (Consumer Membership & Account Agreement and Consumer Product & Fee Schedule) provided at the time of account opening to Mr. [redacted] included information about the fee for inactive accounts.

INACTIVE AND ABANDONED ACCOUNTS
If you have an account that you have not made a withdrawal from, deposit to or transfer involving your account for more than one (1) year, the Credit Union classifies your account as inactive and may charge an inactive fee as allowed by applicable law and set forth on the applicable Consumer Product and Fee Disclosure. If you re-establish contact with us, such fees are nonrefundable. Thereafter, dividends will be paid on the account unless the balance falls below any minimum balance required to earn dividends. The Credit Union will notify you at your last known address prior to imposing any fee as required by law and within the prescribed timelines. Additionally, accounts will continue to incur applicable monthly fees unless contact is established with you and you elect to close the account. Prior notification regarding the continuance of such fees is not required. You authorize us to transfer funds from any available account of yours to cover any monthly fees, if necessary.

Inactive Account–no member-initiated activity for one year (See the Consumer Membership and Account Agreement for more information) - $5/month.
Due to lack of activity, the account become inactive in June of 2016 and a letter was sent to Mr. [redacted] to provide the required notice prior to the fee being charged three months later. Unfortunately, the third requirement of the Unclaimed Property Act is that inactive account fees are not refunded. We regret we are not able to refund inactive account fees to Mr. [redacted], per the Washington State law.

After 60 days of a negative balance in this member's checking account, we charged off the account as is standard industry practice. We are required by the Fair Credit Reporting Act to report charged-off accounts to the credit agencies. On March 21, 2016 we received reimbursement of the funds...

through our collections agency partner, [redacted]. As we have now received funds to satisfy the negative checking status, we will change our rating to “charged off, paid in full.”

Complaint: [redacted]I am rejecting this response because:
I recently checked on what they said they were going to do and instead of updating my the account on my credit report about the checking account I had with them, they updated the auto loan account I had with them saying it was charged off and placed with collection even though that is not accurate. They now report under [redacted] on my credit report for whatever reason.My auto loan with them was never charged off or placed with a collection agency. The Fair Credit Report requires Salal to report accurate information. If they cannot update the right account ending in [redacted] then I would like them to remove it from my credit report. I have done everything possible to get this information accurate and now they go and update my auto loan as charged off when it's not. I included picture proof of them uodating the wrong account as charged off, placed with collections, paid.Sincerely,Shane W[redacted]

Our previous response addressed the issue of the original complaint which was in regards to the member’s charged-off checking account and how it is being reported by the credit agencies. We believe this issue to be resolved as we recently received reimbursement for the funds owed and will change our rating communicated to the credit agencies to “charged off, paid in full.”
The member is now asking about a prior auto loan through Salal which was made in 2012. During the loan term there were a couple of late payments on the loan which were reported to the credit agencies. In 2013, the member filed for bankruptcy and later paid off the car loan in 2014. On the credit report, this auto loan should only show as having been late, included in the bankruptcy, and paid in full. It should not show the loan as ever being charged off or sent to collections. We will correct this information with the credit agencies, but please note this process can take two to three weeks.

On 6/2/2016, we confirmed with the member that she received the paid in full receipt.
