Salamon Flooring Inc. Reviews (1)

I ordered Mercier Engineered Flooring Red Oak Premium Select from the showroom sample. What was installed was the cheaper Classic version. On 01/17/2013, I ordered the Mercier RED OAK Premium Select Engineered Flooring 3 1/4"Satin Finish (476SF). What was installed sixweeks later was not the PREMIUM SELECT but thecheaper CLASSIC with a mixture of full-bodied tones, nothing like the showroom sample from which I chose the flooring. The salesman measured the floor incorrectly causing a three-week delay before completion. One of the boards included a hole which the installer puttied and looks imperfect. Also a cheap looking strip of metalwas put on the threshold from the dinning room to the kitchen. The company does make wood threshold moldings. Since we did not get thefloor we had chosen from the showroom sample, we feel we should receive a full refund of $6,372.00 of which we paid $3,ooo.oo deposit. Desired SettlementWe are seeking to receive a full refund of our$3,000.00 Deposit or Full Replacement of all the flooring with the flooring we had chosenfrom the showroom sample - MERCIER RED OAKENGINEERED PREMIUM SELECT.Business' Initial Response I am truly disappointed to see [redacted]'s attempts to avoid payment of her bill and to attempt to besmirch the reputation of Salamon Flooring, a prestigious Family business for over 70 years.Following is an accurate portrayal of the chain of events:1. The Mercier Red Oak Premium Select Wood Flooring is in fact "Premium" as ordered. The cartons were inspected and verified upon arrival at Salamon's. The wood flooring was delivered to her home days before installation to "acclimate" to her home temperature. During the installation, [redacted] was very carefully scrutinizing the installation of her floor from start to finish and at no time did she express any dissatisfaction or request the installation to cease.2. The product she selected, as well as any natural wood floor, is subject to grain variations. This is noted on most all sample boards assembled for selections. The beauty of the wood floors is created by "Mother Nature".3. [redacted] requested we use a wood moulding that she picked out from Mercier. Upon her request we ordered the one she chose and found that it was unsuitable for this installation. Because of the slight difference of 1/8" between the two adjoining surfaces, most all wood transitions cannot be used. A metal moulding is all there is to blend this situation. 4. As far as the hole to be puttied, this is a professionally acceptable procedure for minor corrections. We at Salamon's are willing to replace the offensive board and change the metal transition strip as long as [redacted] views and approves the alternate and accepts responsibility for the balance of the contract.5. As far as the miscalculation of the quantity estimate, it was an error on the estimator's part. However, we supplied and installed the additional wood floor at no additional cost to [redacted] has a balance of $3,372 owed to Salamon Flooring at this time.Consumer's Final Response (The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)I do not believe that the cartons were verified andinspected upon arrival at Salamon's because theywere factory sealed. I was told that the installer was one of the best by [redacted] who happens to be the installer's [redacted]. When I mentionedhole in the wood piece in the middle of the living room, [redacted] said [redacted] (installer) would take care of it by removing the defective piece of wood. As yet, this has not been done. The threshold is more than and 1/8 of an inch difference. In speaking to the customer servicerepresentative from Mercier in Canada, I was told that a good installer can make a wooden threshold to fit the threshold. I also was greatly inconvenienced by the incorrect measuring of thefloor by [redacted] and could not have the Easter Holiday at my home because the dinning room floorwas not finished due to his error. I also did notstand behind the installer's back and scrutinize each piece of wood he was putting down.I assumed he knew what he was doing. As far as the flooring being PREMIUM SELECT, it surely looks more like the cheaper version labeled CLASSIC or even LOC.It doesn't look anything like the sample I was shown in Salamon's Showroom. If there was to be this much variation in color of the wood, the salesman, [redacted], should have explained the situation to me and not sold me the flooring under FALSE PRETENSES. I am waiting to hear from the Customer Service Rep at Mercier Flooring in Canada, and depending what their response to me will be,I will make a decision as to whether to get an Independent Floor Inspector. I will pay the remaining balance owed to Salamon's only afterall these issues are resolved.
