Salem Auto Sales Inc Reviews (1)

Review: This is a multi-faceted complaint also involving 1) 5-502; Delayed Completion of Service 2) 2-299; Other Sales Practices (details follow) 3) 3-302; Late Delivery of Services 4) 6-603; Inappropriate Behavior by CSR ([redacted]) 5) 7-704; Failure to Provide Promised Written Guarantee Salem Auto Sales located at [redacted], Salem, VA 24153 ###-###-#### has epitomized the poor reputation used car salesmen have by conducting themselves and their business in an inappropriate, unprofessional, indignant, and controversial manner creating concerns over the above listed complaints described in detail herein. On Saturday, June 22, 2013 a negotiated sale for a vehicle was concluded between myself and [redacted]. Mr. [redacted] stated he would not consider a lesser offer based on his uttered statements that if I didn't buy it, a dealer would come right behind me and buy it outright; as-is. We subsequently agreed to a price at which time I proffered $2,000.00 cash as a down payment and we entered into a written and verbal contract that the vehicle would be cleaned, serviced, a few minor adjustments would be made and that the vehicle would be inspected and ready for delivery no later than 4:00 pm Monday, June 24, 2013. At no time did the saleman tell me he would not be working on Monday. He wrote a note on the sales contract indicating the inspection needed to be completed by 4:00. I called the sales office at 11:32 on Monday, June 24, 2013 and spoke to an individual whom identified himself as [redacted]. I asked to speak to ** and he told me ** was not at work. I inquired into the status of the black, S10 pickup truck I purchased Saturday and as to whether or not it had been inspected. The salesman quipped back at me that "his guy" just returned and that the inspection station was backed up. I informed this sales rep that the vehicle was supposed to be ready no later than 4 o'clock as agreed. This requirement and expectation was fully and well articulated to Mr. [redacted] at the time of the transaction due to a multitude of personal costs and inconveniences a delay would create. It is my understanding this business did not open until 10:00 am which is believed to be a significant and major contributing factor to this vehicle not being timely brought to a certified inspection station. It is my strongest contention that Mr. [redacted] took no appropriate or prudent actions to ensure this vehicle would be brought to an inspection site in time to be completed by the prescribed deadline. Simply putting a note on the file/paperwork for someone to handle the next day is unacceptable, unprofessional, and not in keeping with any measure of appropriate business actions to ensure your expressed contractual obligations are met. When I advised the saleman [redacted] that the vehicle not being ready at 4:00 pm as expected was unacceptable, he made it abundantly clear that he could really care less and that it was of no concern of his. His manner, tone, and rather short, and abrubt response that he would do what he could left me absolutely no doubts whatsoever and unambiguously clear indications that he had little if any intentions to act upon my concerns and that he had little if any interest in taking necessary actions or prudent steps to ensure the vehicle was ready for delivery as agreed upon in our expressed, binding, contractual agreement. When I stated to this "[redacted]" (quote) "Our agreement was the vehicle would be ready no later than 4:00. If not ready the deal may be off." (end quote. In reply, [redacted] rudely, abrubtly, and in a very indignant and defiant tone quipped back (quote) "OK - I'm fine with that." (end quote) In light of the fact that this business was placed on notice of my concerns for their anticipated repudiation and breach of expressed and written contract and showed or indicated any expressed worry or concern, I can logically conclude this business embraced Mr. [redacted]'s position that he could readilyDesired Settlement: I believe I am deserving and entitled to injuctive relief for additional costs, inconveniences, and annoying anxieties caused as a direct result. I seek a permanent deratory report be made public on this company in the hopes future customers will not be duped into a similar controversy.

Response:

If you read complaint you can see that vehicle was ready when agreed on and was picked up by customer as agreed on Monday 6-24-2013. We cannot control what the inspection station has ahead of us.All efforts was given to get it ready by 4 o'clock per customer wishes and it was ready when he arrived. Sorry if customer not pleased but we did everything that was agreed to. Our salesmen do not work six days per week. we are open from 9AM to 5PM Monday thru Friday and 10AM until 2pm Sat
