Salida Surgery Center Reviews (1)

Review: Today 9/12/14 I received a rude call from Salida Surgery Center, kicking my son out of their practice because my sons [redacted] wrote them a bad review on Facebook. She said that they offered me an appt at 6:30 am for his surgery so he could be scene quickly in the morning. But the appt was 1 month away. The women had a large attitude, but I let her speak. She said my son could be seen for 30 days from this call but after that he would not be welcomed back, because of the things my Mother wrote about them on Facebook. When she was done speaking I tried to explain why my mother did that. She cut me off and started to tell me it didnt matter, I said excuse me I wasnt finished 3 times. She would not stop talking, so very loudly I said Excuse me, I let you say what you had to say please let me talk. I told her that my son waiting hours and hours and throwing a tantrum was not the only reason why we were upset. At the end when he was still sleeping they sent a very small woman out, wheeling my son to our car. There was no way she was going to get him in the car so between my mother and I we lifted and were able to get him in the car. They could have sent a larger man to help. Also when I brought my son in for the checkup because of pain he was still having a week after the appt. The nurse was giving my mother and I dirty looks. The Dr, and nurse were cold to my son. It also took asking the Dr a question 7 times before he answered it. I told her that for a place based on these services with the handicapped, they sucked. I have already been looking into other places to have my son go to for future dental work. There were a few other reasons I told her why we were so upset but Im a little upset and shocked right now and cannot think of those reasons. We then hung up with each other. My severely handicapped son was seen for dental work because he wont let anyone look into his mouth while he is awake. He is 59 155 Ibs and very strong. I called Salida Surgery Center because as far as I knew then they were the only place that would see him and be able to put him to sleep to work on his teeth. The Appointment nurse said he could be seen at 6:30 Am in a month, I told her I needed the soonest appt because I had to take him to the Emergency Room the night before because he is in a severe amount of pain and we all believed it was due to his teeth. So I was able to set an Appointment for the next week at 10Am. My mother came with me as back up because I would need help in holding my son down. He also had nothing to eat or drink since 9pm the night before so I knew he would be cranky. He actually was in a great mood until 1:30pm when he tried to drink water from the sink in the bathroom. He started a seriously dangerous tantrum, that bloodied and bruised both my mother and I. After 30 mins of this and know in the office asked if we needed help in any way. I looked over at the women behind the desk and with tears in my eyes said Not only is he a danger to himself and of course my mother and I, but he is now a danger to every adult and child in this waiting room. They then not so graciously offered an exam room to us for him to wait in. at 2:45 He was taken in for the surgery. Every adult in the waiting room told us we handled that so very well, and the staff should have let my handicapped son be seen before anyone else. That because the severity of his handicaps he should have been a priority. My mother and I went outside to get a bottle of water and a packed lunch for us from our car, we as well were unable to eat or drink because we did not want to upset my son further. A mother followed us outside and spoke to us about how she couldnt believe how the staff was treating us. However she did not say it so kindly. About 1-2 hrs later my sons surgery was done and he was beginning to sit up with his eyes closed. Like I said before they sent a small women wheeled him out in a wheelchair. It took my mother and I 15 min to successfully lift and push him in the car. I felt terrible because my mother has a terrible back, and this only made it worse.I have received every kind of cruelty looks, and words from kids, teenagers, and adults. Teenage boys are actually the cruelest when it comes to my son. But never at the Doctors or somewhere that I take him to be seen. I suppose thats why I am so shocked and outraged. When I mentioned on My own facebook what happened with Salida Surgery Center the day of surgery, so many of my friends started emailing me and telling me of their bad experiences. And on Yelp, someone wrote what seemed like the same exact experience we had but with a 6 yr old child. I am not the only person that feels outraged and hurt by the way these people are treating our kids. Please, someone needs to do something about this, and all help is much appreciated. My son was seen there August 21 2014.Thank You, [redacted]###-###-####Desired Settlement: I want an apology from Salida Surgery Center. I want my sons name off the termination files but most of all my wish is they learn how to help handicap children since they say they specialize with children with disabilities. They need to take a training course on manners, courtesy and how to react and interact with children with special needs.
