I have just completed my first claim ever filed in my lifeUnfortunately, I am insured (and I use that term loosely) with Heritage I found the claim process and outcome to be pretty sad and frustratingThey took over two months and lots of chasing around to NOT COVER THE CLAIMMy first adjuster did not keep me up to date or explain anything to meI basically just chased her around for two months for answers until she transferred my file over to some guy who I found to be rude and unhelpfulThis is not a good companyThey are terrible with customer serviceI am looking for another companyTo top it off this final adjuster also sent me some paperwork from another persons claim in his final report to meWay to protect customer privacy guys Great job HeritageNot

This company is rude, unprofessional, and have no idea what's in their own policiesI used this company a the advice of my Realtor because the company I wanted did not insure in my part of Florida at the time What a mistakeAs I read my policy with a fine tooth comb, I called and asked what certain things meant and no one could tell me anything! The policy was very cheap and later I found out it barely covered my home I found a new company and submitted a cancellation requestdays AFTER I submitted the request to Heritage, Heritage sent a renewal request to my bank and received a whole years premium from my escrowWhen I called my bank and Heritage in a conference call, I explained to them that on 5/I submitted the cancellation request to Jackie so why did you request payment on the 22nd? Linda of Heritage very rudely stated I don't know what that isWe went around and around for a few and I just said look, I just want to know what I need to do to get a full refundLinda, in her usual rude fashion, replied " I think I've already said it twice"My new policy costs twice as much but id rather be treated with respect by people who actually want to help then by rude know it allsPlus, my new policy actually covers my house at an acceptable levelGood riddance to you Heritage!

We had insurance with this company when we lived in FL When we sold and moved out of state, I had to send in my cancellation three times?? I received a refund check made out to another person at a different address The refund showed all the propriety information, name address, phone number, coverage, ect...So, I call the company and I am told that I need to send in my cancellation, AGAIN!! I had to get a supervisor and I am still awaiting a response

I was insured by Citizens and Heritage bought my paperThis is my second year and my last year with HeritageRates are too high and customer care is poor
I had severe storm damage January 4th, and the claim was denied because "the roof was poor"Even with submitting the building permit and approved inspection that the roof was completely re-done in 2007, I still hit a brick wall
I have had the roof checked again and that same poor roof is considered to be just fine
Life is too short to throw money at companies that do not service their customers

My experience with Heritage Insurance and with underwriter Carey Mwas negativeI was shopping for new homeowners insurance and was quoted a great rate by Heritage through my agentI paid for a new point inspection, which is necessary when switching companies, and was told by the inspector that everything looked great and in orderI received an email the following day from underwriter Carey M
Hi xxxxx,
Thank you for the submissionUnfortunately, we will not be able to consider this risk for coverage until we have documentation from an electrician detailing where the aluminum wiring is running toWe can only consider multistrand aluminum wiring that is running to one applianceIf this is the case for this risk, we would then need to review photos of the plumbing in all bathroomsWe will also require a Heritage ISO RCE
Thanks,
Carey M

Heritage Insurance Company Ste [email protected]
I then paid for an electrician to come out to document what Heritage needed even though the point inspection clearly states the information in which they already had...it actually states on the report a stamp which says that ALUMINUM MULTI-STRAND BRANCH WIRING FEEDS MAJOR APPLIANCES ONLY=OK
The electrician (whom I paid $95) for the same information, looked at the point inspection and his opinion was that Heritage was giving me the runaroundI sent his report, which documented the same information, and photos of the plumbing for both bathrooms, back to Heritage and underwriter Carey M
This was the next email
Hi xxxx,
Unfortunately, we won't be able to bind without photos of the electrical panel wiringWe are unable to make any determinations with a photo of the exterior of the box
Thanks,
Carey M
Underwriter
.???? Now they need another photo of the panel wiringThey deduced that they needed an electrician to document the wiring off of the photos they received from the point inspection! They already had these photosBUT I resent them anyway
They DECLINED the policyWhy not decline it in the beginning? Before making me hire an electrician to state information they already hadI haven't received a copy of the emailed response to my agent, but I will share when I receive itI have spent days running around, taking photos, hiring and waiting for inspector and electricianAll to be declined
Underwriter Carey Mis unprofessional, and does not check his/ her informationA warning to those considering Heritage Insurance: save your time and money and take your business elsewhere

I am a former customer of Citizens and I had no choice but to switch carriers Per my broker recommendation I went with Heritage Typically, I pay my property insurance, car insurance, and now my homeowner insurance quarterly as is my preference Unlike my auto and property tax statements who send payment reminders 20-days in ADVANCE, this company does NOT send me timely payment due notices at all Yes, I got their notice with quarterly breakdownsas a new customer indicating breakdown of quarterly pmts, .however since then ONLY ONCE have I received a notice of payment due from them in the mail, but with only a day advance notice of pmt due Fortunately, I keep a tickler notice on my calendar - otherwise I would have forgotten my other subsequent payments Today is May 9th, my next installment is due the 12th, and I HAVE NOT RECEIVED A NOTICE from them I had this month pmt due notated on my calendar but their business practice are extremely unprofessional and poor

My policy was taken over from Citizens by Heritage. Subsequently, I experienced a plumbing leak in my wall that caused the flooring in my kitchen to buckle and mold to form.

Two weeks into this venture and all they have done is threaten me with non-compliance until I payed for the leak to be fixed immediately out of my own pocket. Then threaten me with non- compliance for not submitting the report from the plumber. Now mind you, even until this day they have not provided any means of submitting any report. no e-mail address, no fax number, not even an address to mail it. just threats. All that has been done is a partial removal of obviously damaged cabinets and a de-humidifier and air cleaner placed in my home.

No inspection for mold as to date.

I have since learned that in the state of Florida, the mold inspection and the removal of infected material cannot be done by the same company.

So they are in the process of removing obviously infected material and drying out the home as much as possible before sending in someone to check for mold. If they do not find mold, they will deny the claim. it becomes flood insurance at that point and no longer their problem. Thus an industrial heater and air handler running 24-7 in my kitchen for the last two weeks and NO MOLD INSPECTION.

They are the worst of the worst. My advice to anyone having the unfortunate luck in having to deal with this bed of snakes is to immediately contact an Independent Adjuster the very minute you hang up on them after filing a claim.

You will need a lawyer to get them to do anything for you. Give them any benefit of the doubt and they will actively use that time to start building a case to deny your claim. You need to get legal representation. immediately.
