Review: Hello my name is [redacted] and I' am a one time client to the Salon Plaza in [redacted], Maryland. The shop is Salon Plaza located at [redacted], Maryland [redacted] . The stylist that provided my service is [redacted] located in suite/studio [redacted] .On Thursday, September 5, 2013 I went to get my hair braided in an up-do by a stylist named [redacted] for a wedding. On Sunday, September 15, 2013 I took my hair out of the style and noticed red bumps in the back of my head and a quarter sized bald spot toward the front of my head. I called [redacted] about the problem on Monday, September 16, 2013 and she advised that I come in so she could see the problem. When I Came in to see [redacted] she explained that the bald spot was due to stress not tension, but she refused to compensate me. She did recognize that the back of my head had redness and bumps, but still refused to compensate me. Once we talked she said that all she could do was shampoo and blow dry my hair. I preferred to get my money back, but [redacted] refused to do that. I talked to another licensed cosmetologist, [redacted], and she stated that my hair looked thin where the braids were at and the extra tension may have pulled it out. The hairstyle I had was supoosed to last for two weeks, but due to pain I took it out early. I only had my hair in for a week and three days so I don't believe stress caused the bald spot, but tension due to the tightness of the braids.Desired Settlement: I would like the stylist to own up to her mistake and refund the money that is due to me.

My name is [redacted] . I am a licensed cosmetologist located in salon plaza in [redacted] , md suite [redacted]. I've been in the business for over 13 years. On Thursday , September 5, 2013 I provided a braided Updo service for an upcoming event which was a wedding that [redacted] was attending. On the day at hand, I used nizam thermasmooth shampoo and conditioner . After blow drying [redacted] hair it was free of any chemicals meaning she was all natural. I also used synthetic hair which is used to add length when the hair is short. The last product that I used was kera care edge tamer which was used to lay down any loose hairs around the hairline. During the service [redacted] never complained about the process it it being too tight I even asked her if it was too tight and if she was ok. After I was done she was pleased with the style she thanked me and also offered a tip but I stated that I didn't have any change and for her not to worry about it but thank h again. On Monday , September 16, 2013 I received a call from [redacted] stating that she had redness and a bald spot from the braids I then asked her to come in the same day so I can take a look at it. When [redacted] arrived at the salon she was accompanied by her boyfriends mother. I examined hair and I explained in full detail that the redness in the back of her head where her hair was shorter was from the tension from the braids . Also , the quarter size bald spot was not caused for the braids because it was a clean bald spot with no broken hairs on the spot which indicated a stress spot or a form of aloepecia. I also explained that the hair follicles were still open which would still allow new hair to grow in . I let [redacted] know that her hair will grow back and there is no products that she could use that was going to make her hair come right back but it will grow back on its on she keep it was an conditioned . [redacted] was very calm and apologetic about the situation and did not ask me for no refunds her main concern was to know if her hair would come back . On the other hand her boyfriends mother was the one who kept implying that I didn't know what I was talking about and was I going to give her another service or her money back. Then I explained to her again that will my level of training and expertise that the bald spot was not caused by the braids . When she left [redacted] went on about it wasn't her she ok with everything it's the boyfriend mother that had a lot to say and she was ok . After shampooing and blow drying her hair I put her scarf back on and she left . Normally I would not refund a client money after 5 or more days after service I would offer another service . At the time [redacted] never opened her mouth to say to me about a refund . My time and products was used to perform this service so therefore I will refund [redacted] half of her money back . I am professional business woman and I take pride in my business and having satisfied customers. Thank you [redacted]
