Sal's Auto Care, Inc. Reviews (1)

Review: My daughter's 2003 S60 Volvo broke down while she was going to EMT class on Tuesday *, 2013. A friend who was a former mechanic told us that it might be the fuel pump. The car did not start so we had to tow it to Sal's auto care store on Thursday **, 2013 when I got back from work to get it fixed as soon as possible. Friday morning, I went to the shop and they told me it was the fuel pump that did not work and that they would order a new one from the Volvo dealer. He said the part and the labor together would cost around $780 and it would be ready by Tuesday **, 2013, so I told the gentlemen to go ahead and fix the car. My wife and my daughter went to the shop Tuesday to go pick it up and the mechanic said that NAPA delivered the wrong part so they needed to wait for the new part and it would be ready Wednesday **, 2013. My wife went on Wednesday to go pick it up again and they said they delivered the wrong part again so they have to order it from the Volvo dealer and it would be ready around 6pm the same day, Wednesday **. My wife called later that day and the mechanic said it would be ready first thing in the morning (Thursday **, 2013) so my wife asked how much it would be and the mechanic said since they had to order it from the Volvo dealer it would be a little more expensive but he didn't mention the price. But the day we dropped the car off the owner said he had to order it from the Volvo dealer and it would be $780 so I don't know why he ordered it from NAPA. My wife called the Volvo dealer and asked how much the price for a fuel pump was and they told her it would be around $290-$355. Sal's auto care called on Thursday **, 2013 and said it was ready, and also mentioned the new price which was now $1,200 and they didn't even bother to call me and tell me the new highly raised price before they went ahead and changed it. I believe that they ripped us off, and my daughters friend the mechanic also said they ripped us off because the parts are not that expensive. One of my daughters friend had a problem with her care and brought it to the same shop and she said they over charged her and also did not fix the problem. Sal's Auto Care is not an honest shop and I will never recommend this place to any of my friends. I'm pretty sure we are not the only ones who got ripped off because my daughters friend thought the same before us so there must be more people who experienced this poor business too. If the Volvo dealer said the price the most would be $355, and the labor was $200, the most it would be is around $500 so they ripped us off right in the beginning.Desired Settlement: If they could refund some of the money back to us it would be greatly appreciated because we had no idea the price was going to be $420 extra. Thank you for you time.
