On 12/03/2019 I fell on my basement stairs and after a couple days my right leg became severely infected and I was admitted to *** Hospital at *** on 12/06/2019. On 12/14/2019 I was transported to Salude Rehab facility for physiotherapy occupational therapy. Prior to going to Salude I was assured that Medicare and United Health Care would pay all expenses for my stay at Salude. Near the end of my stay at Salude a staff member spoke to me about psychiatric care and if I wanted to see a psychiatrist, I believed that this was part of Salude's treatment as was the PT and OT and was never told that there would be a charge for this service. Now I have received a bill from LifeSource of NC for $139.43 and Doctor Barbara ***. This Doctor was in my room for no longer than 10 minutes only asking if I needed her help and I told her I hurt my leg not my head and I am fine. I believe this charge to be fraudulent as I was never told there would be extra charges related to her visit. I am concerned not only for myself but any and all of the patients that are admitted to Salude Rehab Facility. I just lost my Wife on 10/22/2019 during surgery at *** Hospital *** and my Family and I grieving immensely as we never thought this would happen to her. I just want to end this problem forever. Salude apologizes for the delay in response. (Healthcare related businesses have been very busy in recent weeks due to the Coronavirus pandemic). Salude had reached out to LifeSource of NC and was awaiting a response. Lifesource provides psychological services to the patients at Salude. In this situation, the patient had 2 insurances and Lifesource billed the secondary insurance when they should have billed the primary insurance. Lifesource has agreed to call Mr. and explain what happened. All charges will be removed.
