Purchased a brand new 2003 Dodge Dakota Pick up truck and finding out now that it had body damage that was never disclosed to me at time of purchase.I purchased a brand new 2003 Dodge Dakota pick up truck in 2003 (VIN #[redacted])from [redacted] at Salvadore Auto Sales in [redacted] MA. For the past year, I noticed that the drivers' side front door is "rotting/rusting". I brought the vehicle to my mechanic which I have been doing business with since 1990 to order a new door for my vehicle. At that time, I was informed by him that this vehicle's drivers' side front door containted Bondo. He asked if I had ever been involved in an accident to which I stated NO. He stated that it appears this vehicle was involved in an accident at one time previous to my ownership. However, I was never informed at purchase time that it had been damaged. It was presented to me as a brand new vehicle in 2003. It had approximately 7 miles at time of purchase. It is obvious to me that this vehicle was misrepresented and now I am forced to pay for damages that I was not informed/aware of. I have owned this vehicle for 11 years and there is no rust other than on the drivers' side door. I also have pieces of Bondo for proof. It is also evident, via my mechanic, that this vehicle suffered significant damage prior to sale. After reading the above complaint I have reviewed all of the records for this vehicle. We have no record of this vehicle being damaged prior to this customer purchasing it back in 2003. The last service visit that the vehicle was here was on 12-16-05 for warranty work. We would certainly have liked to have the opportunity to look at this rust prior to him having it repaired. We are here to help our customers but were not givin the opportunity to look even at this and now requesting reimbursment doesnt seem fair. This 2003 Dakota would have come from the factory with a 5 year 100k mile rust warranty. The vehicle being 11 years old it certainly is well out of that but we could have tried to get some goodwill warranty extension assistance but again we never had the opportunity to look at it.Thanks[redacted]XXX-XXX-XXXX[redacted]
