To whom it may concern:
Our company Southern Pik-A-Part of Columbus, GA received a letter regarding Mrs***’s complaint. I have done some research and this is what we know:
Mrs*** purchased the car from Southern Pik-A-Part on February 10th. My counter sales person (*** ***) sold Mrs*** the Dodge Intrepid. He explained to her that all cars are sold as is with no warranty and was also told to test drive the vehicle. She did test drive the car with no complaints at the time of purchase. I (*** ***) office manager at Southern Pik-A-Part personally do all paperwork on cars sold. I always make sure I go over the Buyers Guide where it reads: AS WARRANTY-YOU WILL PAY FOR ALL COSTS FOR ANY REPAIRS. The dealer assumes no responsibility for any repairs regardless of any oral statements about the vehicle. I go into detail about this with every car sale. I always get the buyer to sign the Buyers Guide and initial where it says AS WARRANTY. The Buyer Guide sheet pertaining to this car sale with Mrs***’s initials and signature is attached to this email. She states in her letter that she called our company about what was wrong with the vehicle, and after speaking with my sales people here, no one recalls speaking with her. In our company, we strive to take care of our customers when something does go wrong, and if any customer calls here and ask for management they are immediately put through to management. My supervisor *** *** is the manager here at Southern Pik-A-Part and if he isn’t here in the office and is out on the yard, his cell number is given to the customer. She also stated that she came here and waited for hours for someone to look at the car and no one here recalls that happening either. Typically if a customer comes here with a concern, *** *** or *** *** will address it at that moment. No one here recalls her being here at all with that vehicle much less calling to let us know. In closing, all of our cars are sold AS IS with NO WARRANTY and Mrs*** was aware of that. This is the reason we have them test drive the vehicle and give them the option to bring in a mechanic to look at it as well. I do not feel as though we neglected the customer and her complaints when we were not aware of her concerns
Any further questions concerning this matter can be addressed to myself or *** ***
Thank You,

Case# [redacted]
To whom it may concern:
I am responding to the customer complaint of Mr[redacted]. On 3/5/I spoke with Mr[redacted] regarding the engine he purchased on 7/2/13. Mr[redacted] told me that he RECENTLY had back surgery, and was just getting around to installing that engine. He then told me that it was bad and wanted to know if I could help him out. He understood that it had been MONTHS since the purchase of the engine, but also emphasized he had been down due to surgery. I told Mr[redacted] that all of our engines come with a DAY WARRANTY from date of purchase and that the engine he purchased was OBVIOUSLY out of warranty. After discussing more about the engine he purchased, I told Mr[redacted] that I remembered that vehicle, because it had been wrecked in the front and required more effort to start the car (due to being hit in the front). However, I did in fact start the vehicle before selling the engine.
Considering Mr[redacted]' situation, I told him that if I had another engine in our yard that I would swap it out, or if we did not have an engine that I would issue a yard credit for the amount spent. I can only honor this when the engine returns to my possession so I can evaluate the cause of failure. I have not spoke with Mr[redacted] since, but will still honor what I told him. I will need Mr[redacted] to arrange for the engine to be picked up and notify me ([redacted]) ###-###-#### when it is ready! I have a truck in the Atlanta area twice a week on deliveries and can pick up at a time arranged.
Please understand that we are going above and beyond to resolve this matter, although it is seriously out of Southern Pik-A-Part's obligated day warranty period.
Respectfully,
[redacted]
