Revdex.com:
I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID# ***, and have determined that my complaint has NOT been resolved because:
[Your Answer Here]I was referred to Salvatore JColuccio Sprinker Installation & Repair by my landscaper a couple of years ago. During that time, he did work on my sprinkler system, so the job at issue was not the first time that he did work for me.
The initial asking price from was $1,100. We agreed on $ He did see the wires from the time that he gave me the estimate. I never asked him to do the work for free. I paid him every time he did work around my house. He never asked me for extra money for the wires because that was included in the original quote. I asked him for a written proposal at the time of the quote and he refused. I asked him again when he started the job and he said I don’t need one
When the job was finished, *** *** showed me the zones one by one but did not show me each sprinkler head one by one When the sprinkler went on a few days later, I discovered that not all of the heads worked properly. He left a sprinkler hose with a leak. I had told him that it was leaking and he did not fix it. He told me that it was water from the ground. I had to call someone else to repair it. In addition, the sprinkler heads are not installed properly and they are not sturdy
He never came back to turn on the sprinkler heads that were shut off
On the side of the house, there was a cracked brass pipe which broke from the cold winter. While *** *** was doing the sprinkler work, I asked him if he wanted to fix it and he said yes. He told me when he finished the sprinkler job, he would fix it. He told me it would cost $and I agreed. At first, he told me that it was a brass pipe that he was not allowed to touch, but then he said he would fix it anyway When he finished, I did not see a leak because the ground was wet. The day after, I noticed that the water was shooting out from a very fine, little hole I called him and he came back to see the leak. He told me I needed to pay him another $100 which I refused to pay because he had replaced the pipe with a used pipe that had a hole in it. At this point, he left without fixing it. I had to call someone else to fix the pipe

Thank you for alerting me to this complaint. This work was done in June 2014. [redacted] was very cost conscious for this project. My initial price was $1,300 to repair the old sprinkler system on her...

property. She haggled me down to $1,000. I agreed but told her that because we couldn’t turn on the water, there may be unknown damage that we may discover that will cost extra to repair. I started to repair the pipes and pass them under the sidewalk through sleeves. I asked [redacted] to open the garage to allow me access to the timer and water valve. When she opened the garage, there was 100 feet of wire for the valves that was ripped out and lying on the garage floor.
I explained to [redacted] that the wires would have to be rerun in order for the valves to operate and this work was not a consideration in the original estimate. She started fighting with me and told me that I had to do the work for free. I explained that as a sole proprietor, I would not be able to do the work for free and that she would need to hire someone else for the project. She begged me not to leave so I told her I would agree to split the cost to run the wires and she agreed. I specifically stated that if we uncovered anything else that was broken, it was not part of the original estimate and she would have to pay separately for that work.
I installed two new zones (pipes and sprinkler heads) in the front of the house from the valves out to the lawn. Valves are located against the house and provide the water supply to the sprinkler system from the main water system in the house. There were two zones in the back of the house that were operating but with breaks to the main water supply; one ¾ pvc elbow and one ¾ pvc coupler. I repaired the pipes for those 2 zones and added a few extra sprinkler heads all within the original estimate.
We turned on the water and everything worked properly. I adjusted all of the sprinkler heads, made sure everything was working fine, set the timer and showed [redacted] that all of the sprinkler heads were working properly. I demonstrated to her one by one that the system was fully functional. She was having landscaping work done so I shut off a few of the sprinkler heads and told her that when the landscaping work was finished I would turn them back on and adjust any of the heads if needed, based on the landscaping work that was done. [redacted] told me that everything was good, she paid me and I left.
A few days later [redacted] called to say that there was a leak. I went to her house and the leak was coming from the main water supply between her house and the valves, not where we did the work. I told her that I could fix it but she would have to pay for the work. She argued with me, so I left.
I was contracted to fix the sprinkler system from the valves out, which I did with much concession on price. I was not contracted to fix the main water supply from the house to the valves. I was happy to take on the work but that would be a new project and not part of the agreed upon price for the original work. I have been doing this work for many years, first in business with my brother and for the last year on my own. This is the first time a customer has filed a complaint. I tried to accommodate [redacted] as much as possible but I have bills to pay too.

My complaint is not resolved and I still want to pursue the claim.  I agree to have [redacted] look at the sprinkler system in the spring when the system is turned on.If the outcome is not satisfactory, I will at that time ask for guidance to pursue a claim with the Department of Consumer Affairs.Thank you for your assistance.

I was not hired to fix the hose or the brass pipe. So it makes perfect sense that you called other people to fix those items and paid them directly. I stand by my claim that the system worked 100% when I left and that I showed you that the whole system and each sprinkler head was working when the job was complete and before you paid me in full. However, I am willing to come to your house for you to show me where the system is not working correctly, as you claim. Because it is currently too cold to turn on the water without damaging the system, I don't believe we can do this now. I am willing to come to your house in the spring when you schedule someone else to turn on your sprinklers and with that person there observe where you claim the system is not working correctly.

Review: I was referred to Salvatore J. Coluccio Sprinkler Installation & Repair by my landscaper to repair my sprinkler system. He was hired to repair my hose and sprinkler heads for the front, back and sides of the house. Upon completion, 25% of the sprinkler heads still do not work and one of the hose connections was left with a leak.Additionally, I had a brass pipe with a leak which connects to an outdoor hose. He fixed the leak with an old piece instead of a new piece and it is still leaking.Desired Settlement: I am requesting $600.
