The Salyer Hearing Center PLLC office in Murphy, NC rarely has a licensed Audiologist there. The front desk receptionist says that Jill R, MA, CCC-A, F-AAA is only in the office 1/2 day once per month.
Instead, an apprentice named Emily A attempts to do the tasks ordinarily performed by an Audiologist. Importantly she has not been returning my phone calls to fix the mistake she made when she put the wrong size earpiece in my left hearing aid. It's to large, lacks vents and my irritates ear.
Thank you for your concern. We do employ the only audiologists in the mountain region: Jill R, MA; Dr. Selena R, AuD; and Dr. John S, AuD-- they rotate between all of our office locations on a regular basis. Ms. Emily A holds a bachelors degree in Communications Sciences and Disorders as well as a license as a hearing aid apprentice in the state of North Carolina. This actually exceeds the qualifications necessary in the state of North Carolina for the work she is performing. We return all calls and emails we receive promptly. Many times, even for our audiologists, something that feels perfectly fine in the office, may cause irritation after several days of wear and need to be changed-- comfort is not an exact science. We encourage all of our patients-- even those that walk in without an appointment and whose hearing aids were not originally fit or sold by our practice, to follow up with any issues so that we can work to ensure complete satisfaction.
