Sam Brown's Wholesale Nursery Incorporated Reviews (1)

Review: In early summer our landscaper ** landscaping planted 3 large evergreens from Sam brown nursery. Within 3 weeks all 3 trees were dead. My husband watered them every evening with a hose from our house. When I called [redacted] said he would have to call Sam brown's nursery about the warranty. Sam brown replied no warranty. Even [redacted] etc give a one year warranty. We paid almost $400 for three dead trees, the root balls of the trees were not burlaped. They were just dug out of the ground at Sam brown and put in a pail to be planted at our house.Desired Settlement: Replace all 3 evergreens and ** landscaping to replant this fall.

Response:

September 23, 2014In response to the complaint that we received, yes it is correct ** Landscaping (not ** Landscaping) purchased (5) Green Giant Arborvitae 6-7 trees from Sam Brown’s Wholesale Nursery on June 7, 2014. At the time of purchase the trees were in containers(which came straight from our vendor as such) which were loaded onto ** Landscaping’s truck. At the time of planting, the landscaper would remove the container. They were advised that there is NO warranty on any material bought here. They accepted, signed and paid the invoice for the trees. We only sell trees and/or shrubs in containers or in burlap. It would be detrimental to the reputation of our company as well as the survival of ANY tree not to be in a container or balled and burlaped. We have been in business under my ownership for 25 years and I can say with absolute certainty that no plant, tree, and or shrub has left this nursery that wasn't in a container or balled and burlaped. We have purchased these trees from the same vendor for over 15 years and have sold similar trees this season to other customers and have not had any problems. There are many reasons why the trees may have perished. One is that the landscaper did not plant it correctly. Another is that the homeowner, although stated that he watered it, may not have watered it properly. It needs to be watered at the base not at the foliage. Another may be the location where the trees were planted. Since we do not know how, when, and where the trees were handled, planted and cared for once they left our Nursery, we can not be held responsible for what happens to the trees. For that reason, we do not offer any warranty. .I hope this will resolve this matter.Sincerely,Tim SPresident/Owner
