Having been made aware of this issue today I interviewed each employee that was involved in the transaction and reviewed all the documentation. Falsifying customer information is a serious matter one that is I do not take lightly. I found two credit applications signed by the customer stating...
a gross monthly income of $2000.00 from her employer HEB and $550.00 from child support. The first credit application is taken by the sales person at the time of sale and not by the finance manager. Another application is created when the submitting the loan package to potential lenders, both applications match and are signed by the customer. I am not a handwriting expert however these signatures appear to be consistent with the other signatures included in the packet. The customer was made aware the day that she signed her paperwork that the lender was conditionally approving her loan based on her providing us current and accurate proof of income matching at minimum the gross income stated of $2000 plus child support. The customer agreed to bring her statements on the following Monday and provided her child support award letter the same day. Several days passed and we were unable to obtain the proof of income. On several occasions Ms. [redacted] stated she would be sending it “right away” but never did. We finally received her latest pay stub on the 20th of April. Upon review of her proof of income it was evident that it was severely over stated. Her gross earnings were just under $900.00 less than half of what she claimed. I am confident that [redacted] and [redacted], the employees handling this transaction are being honest and transparent and do not believe there was any foul play or misrepresentation on our part. Many if not most auto loans that we process require proof of income and job verification either in paper form such as a pay stub or by physical verification via telephone by the lender. There is no reason for our employees to overstate income nor is it an accepted practice here at [redacted] Yaklin, doing so results in immediate dismissal. Both employees have solid tenure here at the dealership and good standing in the community one being a former Police Officer and the other a School Teacher. It is unfortunate that we could not complete the purchase for the customer after all we are in the business of selling cars. I hope this answers any questions in regards to this transaction.
