Sam's Electric Reviews (1)

Review: No followup or guarantee on failed electrical repair in a very short timeframe. No return call or interest from business after they had been paid.

[redacted] came out to our house to trouble shoot electrical issue with our outdoor fireplace. He seemed to be in a great hurry the entire time he was here. The electrical seemed to be working when he left, but within two weeks, it was all down again. While we called numerous times and left him messages to return our calls, he never did. Only when I called on a different number and he didn't recognize the name, did he call back, and once he realized it was someone he had done work for before who was not happy and needed followup on his work, his attitude changed. He said he would have to charge us again (we had already paid him $150.00 the first time for a very quick repair, and he wanted at least $85.00 more to see what had happened with the original repair. Very disappointed he would not offer to see where his original repair went wrong and would not even bother to call us back when he knew it was a service warranty issue originally. He was only interested if he thought it was a new customer--not interested in satisfying an existing customer who had already paid him for a job that had gone wrong.Desired Settlement: We would not be comfortable using this gentleman for a repair again as he has no guarantee for his workmanship, nor does he bother to followup with customers if they have a subsequent problem with his work. We will have to pay another electrician to look into the same problem again as [redacted] did not take the time to research what the issue really was to be sure it did not just reoccur and had no interest in taking care of it once he had received his payment. The default in the repair occurred so quickly after the original repair that we do not believe it is an additional problem, but a reoccurrence of the original issue which was not taken care of sufficiently by [redacted] in the first place for which he was already paid. We request a refund so we can put it toward a reputable electrician who stands behind their work and is considerate enough to followup when previous customers have issues with their work, after they have been paid.

Response:

Company states that the work was completed a summer ago. Consumer called me in January and said that the wiring that was done quit working. I remember the job, the consumer had a fireplace with an outlet and wiring that was was buried in the dirt. The consumer had completed the wiring job themselves and when I arrived I let them know that this was a service call and that I would do what I could as they did not want to pay to fix it right. When I left the wiring was working.

Response:

I am rejecting this response because:

The repair only continued the electrical working for a month, then it went out again. We were disappointed that the business would not contact us again when he knew we had an issue with his repair. We left him messages off and on for months, only to have him respond finally when I called on a different number he didn't recognize. We had another electrician come out recently, and for HALF what Sam Electric originally charged us, he completed the repair correctly, took his time to find the source of the issue, and let us know we could contact him should be have any issues with the repair in a reasonable time. That was two months ago, and of course, this time the electrical for the BBQ is still working because it was repaired correctly and in a way which will last. Sam's Electric was a disappointment all the way around, from the hurried initial "repair" and the lack of customer service or concern following. Not a company I would recommend based on this experience.

Response:

The original charges and work were from a diagnostic service call in which we completely did what we were asked to do. The customer did not want to do any additional work at the time of the service call as the wiring was buried in the ground and open in many places. I went over the problem with the complaintant's husband.

We did not receive any calls until 7 months after the service call. A service call is for a diagnosis. We performed our job and left an invoice. Additional work costs additional money which they were not willing to pay for. The outlet in question was tripping every time the sprinklers ran on the open wiring throughout the garden flower beds. We did our job and were asked to set the outlet as is. The invoice left last year stated the additional repair were needed at an additional cost. I performed a service call and did my job.
