Sam's Flooring, Inc. Reviews (1)

We recently did a remodel, and our designer was not able to finish the job. We were left without flooring choices. We went to Sam's. Following is our experience:
Showroom: A[redacted] is amazing. She listened to our thoughts then helped us find the exact things that we needed. She brought imagination to life, then clearly documented it so that it could be installed. We were so impressed we asked our contractor to purchase the tile from them, which he did. He then decided to also subcontract them for the installation. This is where the problems begin.
Installation. We had a master bath, a kitchen floor and a hall bath to do, and due to how the scheduling worked out, Sam's sent three different teams. Not in the same order as installation:
Kitchen Team and Hall Bath Team were amazing. Where they found something wasn't level, they leveled it. Where there was an issue with the floor, they notified the contractor to fix it. Both teams went the extra mile and the job they did was professional and top notch. Their behavior while in my home was also strictly with the highest level of professionalism. Both teams are a credit to themselves and their employer. Top Notch.
Master Bath: On the first day we looked at their progress and realized it was wrong. A design was missing. The response was there was no design in the instructions - so I pointed at the drawing they were using to install the tile with, and there was the design clearly drawn out by the wonderful A[redacted]. Response "Oh, that's what that other box of tile was for". They had to rip out the tile to redo it and since they had cut it to fit, they did not have enough tile to do the job - so we had to wait two weeks while they ordered more. Once they came back, nothing but complaints form them on how they were too busy for our job and how they really didn't want it. This is different from pointing out issues with the floor; to their credit they did identify several issues with the floor that the contractor was required to fix before they would proceed. This behavior I respect. When I say complain, I mean just that, complaining that they had to be at my home doing my job. Once the job was done, we discovered a huge puddle in the middle of the shower and reported it. This started the blame game. I really don't care who's at fault, they were being paid to install shower tile, they should have made sure it drained. At any rate, this is between them and the contractor. EXCEPT that it has been over three months and nothing has been done - and the contractor is getting very frustrated. They finally relented and came to the house to look at the puddle. While they were there we showed them a full box of leftover tile and grout that they could use for the repairs if necessary. They finally acknowledged the existence of the puddle and said someone else would now have to look at it to decide what to do. Since then they have done nothing but delay with our contractor saying they are not available, and then requesting that they be allowed to come out so they can see if we have any tile and grout left over. Huh? Again, I cannot speak to the interactions between Sam's and the contractor - but I can say the contractor is not getting the final check until it's fixed, so I'm pretty sure he's motivated. It has been over four months, and Sam Flooring has NOT stood behind their work.
CONCLUSION: If you want to buy flooring, they are simply the best. If you need installation, you have a 2 in 3 chance of the best installation money can buy. However, that means you have a 33% chance of getting a team that is unprofessional, will make mistakes that cost you weeks of time, will not check their work, and when you try to get it fixed, Sam's will promise a resolution, and months later you will still be squeegeeing water every day off your floor so that the grout doesn't soften and your expensive tile job be ruined. I know that teh next time, I will spend my money elsewhere, and probably still be waiting for them to fix the floor they installed. When they do good work, it's great, but when they don't, you are left with the mess and no help.
