Street, so we could remove some of my daughters things from the car.Driver told them to leave the registration in the car. The tow truck driver told us (my wife, daughter and I) the only thing we needed to do is to have the registered owner appear in person or fax a written request releasing the car to our insurance company on 12/1/14. On 12/2/14, my wife faxed the written release to Sams and followed up with a call, since we would be paying for the towing and not our insurance company. At that time we did not know they did not leave a copy of the registration in the car.We did not know who the registered owner was.As per the CHP we are only to release the car to the registered or acting agent. We did not get a police report to know who the registered owner was. To our great surprise, Sams told us the towing and storage charges were $605.40. The towing company was charging us for storage over the weekend, storage starts when the car is dropped in the yard. Then after it has been there 24 hours then the storage go by calander day. when their representative told us that we didnt need to do anything until the Monday following the accident.Because our office is closed over the weekend. If someone wants to release a car we tell them to call the office during regular business hours.Even worse, when we confronted Sams Management with the drivers statements, they first told us, it didnt matter what the driver said, then they proceeded to throw up roadblocks to us paying off the bill for over 4 hours, they wanted to pay by phone and we told them we couldn’t do that because we didn’t have a copy of the registration just so they could charge us an additional days storage fee. After numerous phone calls from my wife and me, and even the threat of a small claims law suit,Yes they did threaten with court and they were told that they would have to pay in person.  Sams refused to charge my wifes credit card despite stating to us on the phone they would. We even told them we had a tow truck on its way to pick up the car from their lot and deliver it to our home (This was covered by insurance) and they still refused our payment After a threat with court we said we would not take payment over the phone. and denied the tow truck driver access to our car.A tow truck never came to our yard to pick up the car intel Mr Bennett was there to pay for the car. These stalling tactics by Sams staff and management were so blatant, that even when USAA tried to pay Sams Usaa did call and said they were not covered and they would not pay and that the cuctomer would have to pay. (echeck and Corporate Credit Card) to tow the car home, to avoid another days storage fee, Sams refused to take their payment. I believe this whole situation is a result of blatant Insurance fraud and abuse of power on the part of Sams towing and transportation. I believe the drivers omission that the car could be picked up anytime, was reflections of the culture of fraud at Sams and attempt to pad the bill they thought would be paid by our insurance company. When we confronted Sams about all of this, they went our of their way to make us Pay not only in money but in time too, just because we had the nerve to question their bill
