This is in response to your letter dated 08/30117 requesting a formal response to the consumer's grievance regarding service issues and costs incurred. Mr. [redacted] expressed concerns regarding the quality of care he received and the charges he incurred. On 04/20/17, Mr. [redacted] presented to...

the Hand Therapy Center at Rancho San Antonio Rehabilitation Center to receive treatment as ordered by his treating physician. His treatment included an evaluation by the Licensed Occupational Therapist, which resulted in a custom finger splint being designed and fabricated for the patient. On 08/10/17, almost three months after Mr. [redacted]'s date of service, he expressed dissatisfaction with the care and equipment he received. His concerns were fully reviewed by Mr. [redacted], Director, Patient Accounting; Mr. [redacted], Director, Rehabilitation Services; Ms. [redacted], Manager, Rancho San Antonio Rehabilitation Center; and the Patient Services Department and the Hospital found the care and charges associated to be appropriate for the services rendered. We would like to assure you that our rates are within acceptable standards and competitive for similar services at comparable facilities in our area. After a careful review of the patient's account, we learned that patient had personal responsibility to pay $465. Account statements were mailed to Mr. [redacted] on 06/19/17 and 07/20/17 to which we received no response. In addition, Mr. [redacted] spoke directly with Mr. [redacted] regarding the quality of care concerns he expressed and as a gesture of good faith, suggested that he return the splint and we will remove that charge from his account. Mr. [redacted] returned the splint on 09/13/17 and we have initiated the process of rebilling his insurance and an updated statement will be sent to Mr. [redacted]. Please be assured that we take all concerns reported to us very seriously, and we appreciate the opportunity to review our current practices to ensure we meet all applicable regulations. 111 can he of further assistance feel free to contact me directly at ###-###-####.
