Review: I signed up for a 1 year paid in full membership in September of 2012. I am an active duty service member. I paid the initial 175$, I was able to take 2 classes before getting deployed. I notified the gym as when I found out and let them know I needed to cancel my membership because of deployment. I was told that it was alright and taken care of. I returned in January of 2013 to a few dozen voicemails telling me I owed the gym $700+. I again spoke to them and let them know again I had been deployed overseas. I never received another call. I never received anything in the mail. May 17 I received a call from a collection agency about this account. I informed the collection agency about my military service and deployment, and quoted the Service Members Civil Relief Act. I also called the gym and informed them on the Service Members Civil Relief Act. The gym informed me that it didn't matter and they were going to do nothing for me. I was told if I had brought my orders in Before I left they could have helped but they wouldn't do anything for me now. Horrible place.Desired Settlement: Forgiveness of the $700+ dollars they say I still owe them

As Mr. [redacted] stated he purchased a one year membership at our gym. He chose the paid in full option in order to save money as it is the lowest priced membership that we offer. He paid his down payment of 175.00 and requested " a couple of days" to pay his balance. Mr. [redacted] did not sign up for a membership that was to be billed monthly so there was no contract to cancel, he simply had a balance due. After beginning his training he failed to pay his balance and was informed by phone and mail on multiple occasions, for which we have complete records, that he had a balance due. Mr. [redacted] never responded and never mentioned deployment until after the collection company contacted him 7 months after he committed to the membership. As far as the Service Members Civil Relief act is concerned, it does not relieve service members of financial obligations that they enter into such as this. Being owned by former military personnel we are very supportive of service members however we cannot deal with any situation if we are not dealt with honestly.

Review: On Wednesday, November 5, at 3:49PM I spoke to an employee at San Diego Combat Academy via telephone about collection of my monthly dues. The employee asked me on what day it would be okay to charge my card and I replied that the San Diego Combat Academy could charge card on "Wednesday, November 12". The employee did not indicate that this would be a problem, rather he agreed to collect my payment on that date (Nov.12). On Sunday, November 9 I saw that there had been a charge made to my account from San Diego Combat Academy, which is three days prior to the date agreed upon. This was highly unethical and unprofessional.Desired Settlement: I request for my contract with the San Diego Combat Academy to be terminated effective immediately.
