Review: San Diego Computer Fix received my laptop computer in an emergency after liquid had spilled over the keyboard. I paid for the service, roughly $350, in advance. They called me shortly after to say that it would be 3-5 days before the keyboard came in, but that the rest of the laptop was safe. I followed up after 3-5 -- called about 7 different times -- and there was no voicemail, answering machine, or any answer. Calls were made during their posted business hours.

The next day, I was unable to reach an employee or owner by phone, so I went to the business in person. When I got there -- during posted business hours -- the door was closed, and I sat in front of it calling the business number on my cell phone, to see if I could hear anyone inside. Within a couple minutes, a gentleman came by and knocked, and asked me, "are you waiting for them?" I told him I was and I was currently waiting for them to pick up their phone as well. He stated that he worked for the property management company in charge of the building, and that the tenant would likely not be let back in, as they were behind on their rent. He asked for my number so I could collect my laptop when they opened the doors. I gave it to him.

A week or so later, I spoke to [redacted], the leasing agent at the property, a couple of times after that, and found that San Diego Computer Fix had reached an agreement with the property managers and would be allowed back in to complete business. I came back in person after one answered phone call stating that my new keyboard was still in transit and several phone calls that went unanswered. When I came in, there was a lone employee -- presumably the owner, [redacted] (sp?) -- who told me that the part still hadn't arrived. The initial estimate was 3-5 days, the following estimate was a couple week, and this was now a month after the fact.

Today marks the end of 5 weeks that San Diego Computer Fix has had my computer. I went to call them today, pulled up their Yelp listing to find their number, and noticed that there Yelp listing was no longer available. Alarmed, I drove to the location in person. Today -- hours before writing this -- I arrived at San Diego Computer Fix and saw two notes sticking to the door, the gist of both: "we need our computers back, please call us."

Seeing that I was not the only one having an issue now, I phoned [redacted], the leasing agent. She recently returned my call, leaving a message that stated that [redacted] had made a "midnight move", and that all laptops and computer hardware were gone, and only a desk and chair remained. I was not the first phone call she had received about the issue. She stated that the other customers were filing police reports. When I attempted to file a police report, they informed me that, since I left the computer with the business voluntarily, it was a civil dispute and should go through the Revdex.com.

I think it's theft, but I'm not a lawyer.

If you have information on the owner of San Diego Computer Fix, or see a three-year-old Sony Vaio laptop being sold locally, please notify the police.Desired Settlement: I would like my laptop back. Regardless of whether the keyboard has been replaced, I want it back in otherwise working condition with all files intact. If I receive it intact, I will not pursue criminal or civil charges, or even call to make a chargeback on the credit card payment. I just want the laptop back in one piece with my files. It has photos and videos of my child's birth and first year of life, work documents, and personal affects.
