San Diego Door Pros Reviews (%countItem)

Seconds after my wife was standing there, the garage door came crashing to the ground with enough force to split the metal panels, and bend the entire frame.
I had contacted Garage Door Pros because I had a spring that was beginning to weaken. Their service person inspected the spring then told me they could not replace just the spring because it was an "all in one unit". They would have to replace most of the retraction hardware outside of the motor. Even though I did not believe that to be true, I agreed to allow him to replace the hardware simply because it would be done that day, and in theory would be brand new and one less thing to have to think about. That was something like a year or two ago. Since then, the door has never been struck, and has had regular service and proper lubrication performed on it.
One evening, my wife comes home, parks her car and walks across the garage to enter the house. That is when I hear a thundering crash coming from the garage. I open the door to the garage to find my wife standing there with her mouth open. The garage door has come crashing down, it's now bent, split, and jammed, trapping both my automobiles. The arm attaching the motor to the door has been ripped completely off. Most of the guides are bent and/or misaligned.
I call Garage Door Pros and request someone be sent out to help me. I was told it would be two days. When I informed them that my cars were trapped and inaccessible, I was told "bummer".
Guess what, it gets worse.
Two days later they did finally send someone out . After inspecting the work I was asked who had done the installation. I told them that they had. The technician then told me that the catastrophe was because of "the wood" and not covered under their warranty. He then demanded to be paid 125 dollars before he would get the door back open allowing us access to our vehicles. I paid him his money and asked for a quote to repair my damaged door.
Yep, I was charged more money, then quoted a price to fix and repair the damage caused by the installation they had done.
It's one thing to make a mistake. It is quite another to be mistrustful to cover that mistake up.
I called another company to inspect the door and the work that had been done. They told me the door is damaged beyond repair and has to be completely replaced. As for the work that was done? I wish I could post pictures of the installation work this company did.
So what now? I could hand the entire mess off to my attorney, or deal with it in small claims court. I could also file a complaint against their contractor's license, and leave their work to speak for itself. Frankly, I have not yet decided how I am going to proceed with this. This I do know, don't let my misfortune be yours as well. There are plenty of other companies doing this sort of work. Try your luck with one of them.
Does anybody deserve the indignity of being injured or even killed by their garage door?
