On 10/8/15 I called Dean Custom Air in Myrtle Beach SC, to come and fix my frozen AC unit. They sent a tech out that showed up a few hours later.
The unit was 3lbs. low in Freon. The tech done a leak check and found nothing.
The tech told me that the installer didn't put the proper amount of freon in the unit. Him being a tech I believed him.
The tech put the 3 lbs of freon in the system. Turned the unit back on and the fan was blowing air again. At this time the air felt cool to me as it was 80* in the home at the time. The tech was paid then he left.
The house started to cool, got down to 75. But that's where it stayed.
At this point I was upset. It took me a few days (5) to get some time between work to call another company. They came out in a few hours. They found a leak immediately. I was told that it's a very common place for a leak. It was fix quickly.
The tech stuck around and even check the air temp inside.
Deans Custom air charged me 245 for coming out and putting 3 lbs into a unit that had a leak. Didn't find or fix a leak that was easily found. A wasted $245.
The other company charged me $370. Found and fixed the problem. Replaced 5 lbs of freon and checked back the next day just to make sure the gas wasn't leaking.
Back to Dean Custom Air. I called and asked to speak with a manager. Explained I was upset I spent $245 for no result. Secretary told me the two had to speak to were at lunch and she would give the message and have them call me that day. No Call Came.
I waiting to 12pm the next day and called again. This time they are busy and will call me back which is understandable. He called me back this time. I was told I would not get back any of the service charge because I used another AC repair company. We debated this reasoning and in the end was told he would talk to the gm.
Few hours later he called and told me the same this. I'm stuck paying for terrible service. Please use another company. Show them with your money they can't take advantage of customers.
