Buyer Beware of San Marcos Doors
I ordered & paid for a metal door that was promised to be constructed & installed in 6-9 weeks from 14 Oct 21. We’re now in week 16 & still no door. The representative Cris Garza has promised over & over that my door would be on time & scheduled installation dates that have not happened. Nothing but excuses. Blame everything on COVID-19. Sorry to have done business with San Marcos. My advice, STAY AWAY! Nothing but problems.

I wish I would have seen these reviews prior to paying 50% upfront for our two doors back in January of that are still not completely installed as of today, JULY Terrible communication from the entire team, installers don't speak English, [redacted] won't return calls and when he does the information is inaccurate, owner has no control over her business and will make appointments that her team does not honorAs a summary, the glass didn't fit in one half of our double front door so we had plexiglass in the door for over a month The other contracted door still does not have glass and it is months later and we have been required to pay 90% of the total charges based on our contract They put a silver lock on the iron door, the installer didn't speak English but explained to us that they were out of locks and it would be replaced To date, it is still silver on a dark bronze doorAll told, we have placed over calls to a company that already has our money and all we have are partially complete projectsThis is a high-end company that does not provide anything close to high-end services I DO NOT RECOMMEND SAN MARCOS DOORS

[redacted] I am sorry to hear this, I will revise all our notes about this, I see that today Ago 18th, they are going to do an inspection and seal glass unitsI don't know what the reason is but unfortunately we don't do glass so we depend of a subcontractor for this itemWe are working now in making our own glass so we avoid this type of problem and give you the service that you deservedFeel positive that we will do anything posible to offer you a complete satisfaction of our productI"ll find out more information and Project Manager has been in contact with you so he"ll continue to finalize this situation as soon as possibleThank you for your understanding and cooperation

I accept SMD response to work with me until the screens are installed and we are satisfied As of today, SMD has contactedt with me on 7/4, 7/6, and 7/ On July, a SMD representative came out to the home and made a template of the sidelight and the door However, I am not in agreement with SMD entire response SMD employers acknowledged their initial screens did not fit properly In addition, the screen contractor NEVER tried to contact me All three times he has come to my home, SMD contacted me and scheduled the appointment His product was defective and I absolutely not accept for such a high quality door made by SMD Upon SMD discussion with me, they realized he was not familiar with their product based on the contractor's recommendation for installation SMD has stated they now have a Screen company that is very familiar with their product I would like SMD to continue to communicate with me on the status of screen installations

The owner came to my house and gave me a no obligation estimateAfter choosing to use this business, he scheduled and completed all the work in a very timely mannerThe workers were very friendly and complied with all my requests in trimming out the job They also did an excellent job of cleaning up after completion

San Marcos Iron Doors has been working with this client along the time to get her 100% satisfaction for her projectWe created two sets of screens, even when customer only purchased one as stated on her invoiceDo to the cathedral shape of her door (see attachments) , it is custom/hand made
beautiful door, any of the screens close all the spaces around.After our efforts, and with all this information, I offered her a credit back for this item, but she didn't acceptNext option was to call a different company to remake screensSo, we called two subcontractors to finish the project, with NO LUCKOne of them mentioned that it was very difficult to communicate with client because she is always busy and she wants it on Saturdays, so that made it difficult for himThe second one made screens on site but she was not present and she is the only person who can decide about this matterLater on when we contact client she didn't like those either, also they talked about to screwing them into the door, but we don't recommend thatI personally went to her house to see what the problem was , and I found out that is the shape of the door, is really difficult to seal all around the way she wants itI explained to them and I explain the risk to screw into the metal so unless I do the screens in a triangle shape it will closes the space by itselfBut it will took away fro the unique and beauty of the iron doorNow, they understood why screens were different than the square ones that their neighbor has from us that fit perfectlyShe agreed and asked me to bring the first set of screens we presentedInstead, I took new templates and we are making a new set and we"ll install them as soon as possible. Our client satisfaction is of the upmost importance to usWe have been pro-actively working with the client on this project since the beginning and have been trying our best to accommodate her needs and her time schedule.This plan of action was already in place before we receive this complaintProbably she send it previously to the complete explanation and the agreement between her and San Marcos of how to proceed We will continue to work with the client, as we have already been doing, and will continue to do so, until she gets the screens and invoice get close

I recently purchased 9 windows and a patio door from American Windows and Siding. The salesman, [redacted] was very knowledgeable and made excellent suggestions that saved us money and made us feel like he had our best interest in mind. The installers were very hard working and professional. They took the time to install the windows correctly and did a good job cleaning up afterward. Overall it was a great experience. As I write this, it is snowing and windy and there are no air leaks. The house feels warmer with no drafts.

I am rejecting this response because:
When we received the door damaged I immediately contacted San Marcos and they informed me that I could not ship the door back, there was a process. They assured me that the touch up paint they were sending was sufficient, I paid to have the door touched up and the door is rusting in more spots than the damaged areas. When it rains, the glass windows on the doors leak water on the wood flooring in my foyer. I also have an oil fitting and screws missing from the doors, that they said they would send and never did.  I have two emails stating that there is in fact a warranty on the doors. When I contacted San Marcos with issues I am then told they will not honor a warranty on my door because I do not live in the state of Texas. I would have never purchased from a company that fails to disclose that they will not honor customers for warranty based on location. I have sought counsel to file suit in Bexar county for damages and legal fees, as I have had no resolution with San Marcos and the management is very rude and laughs at suggestion that they should honor stated warranty. A $4500 door is turning into thousands more of damages to flooring and the appearance and integrity of the door.

We purchased our first 3 doors and railings, and a huge chandelier in our first home in 2005. They were and are still absolutely breathtaking. When we decided to purchase our second home, we also had all the exterior doors, and stair railings replaced with wrought iron from San Marcos Iron doors. They also installed travertine flooring and Cantera columns and fireplaces throughout the house and pool area.. We recently purchased our ranch and I have been working with my good friends at San Marcos Iron doors, to plan and design new and different modern industrial style doors, railings and an entrance gate to the property. I cannot speak more highly of the staff and the family that is San Marcos Iron Doors. I have recommended San Marcos Iron Doors to all of my neighbors in the different neighborhoods that we have lived in. After seeing our homes and the luxury, elegance and value that these products have added to our homes, we always end up having friends and neighbors who purchase doors and other products from San Marcos Iron Doors, to enhance the beauty and value of their own homes. We will continue to do business with San Marcos Iron Doors, because they are a wonderful company with amazing hard working employees. I cannot speak more highly of them. I am not one to go online and write reviews, but it occured to me the other day, that it seems too many people only take the time to write a bad reviews and complain about businesses. So I just wanted to take a moment to speak highly of and praise a company that has for the last 10 years, and still to this day continues to provide us and our friends and family with amazing customer service and quality products. Thank you San Marcos Iron Doors for all your amazing help and quality service. We look forward to what amazing products you will design and provide for us in the future.

San Marcos Iron Doors sent the door in perfect conditions. Minor damages (scratches) were done by the shipping company, not by our company. Once customer received the door she had two options to not...

accept the door and have us take hands on the matter or accept the door and fill complain against the shipping company on her own; which she did, once she receives the compensation for the damages then we will have an estimate ready for the cost of repairs for her review.
Customer was informed at all times and our sales representative tried his best to help her by shipping a touch up paint kit at no cost with the specific instructions.
 
We are more than willing to resolve this matter and full fide all customers’ satisfaction.
 We continue to wait on customers’ response as of today.  At San Marcos Iron Doors we strive for a 100% customer satisfaction and when things like this happen we continue to help in the resolution of it.  Our goal is to get our products to our clients in a best way possible by crating our items really good and to freight companies’ rules and regulations. We will continue to ear back from customer to see how we can assist.

All told, we have placed over 70 calls to a company that already has our money and all we have are partially complete projects. This is a high-end company that does not provide anything close to high-end services. I DO NOT RECOMMEND SAN MARCOS DOORS.

We initially contacted [redacted], Sr. at American Windows and Siding for an estimate for the replacement of 33 windows and re-siding a house that was over 100 years old. He came to the house and was professional in his presentation and his estimate was fair. We signed to have the work done in roughly a month after the estimate and the work was completed on time and very professionally. We will be giving them the opportunity to bid on our other work.
