a total of $2175.00. She was helped over the phone and booked the property and we mailed a contract to her right away via [redacted]. The tenant then signed the contract and returned it along with a deposit check for 1087.50 which we received on January 26th. Attached is the contract with her signature indicating she agreed to the terms including the cancellation policy which clearly spells out what happens and that no refunds are given unless the time is re-rented at the same price. It also says that we recommend that they buy trip insurance. Additionally, I have included a note written on the back of the contract by the customer saying what a wonderful job our agent did helping her. On May 10th the customer called to cancel and was reminded of the cancellation policy. The relative (husband I assume) [redacted], contacted us wanting his money back regardless of what was signed. He then threatened us multiple times in the last few months with bad reviews and small claims if we do not return the deposit. I have had numerous emails with him telling him that while we can only refund the money if we re-rent the property and that there was still time left he continues to harass and make false claims like this one.[redacted] claims to have run a BNB so he is aware of contracts and that when you have one in your hand and control for days, and sign it and agree to the terms, you cant claim that anyone tricked you or changed the rules. I'm sorry that the cancellation policy isn't as lenient as [redacted] had for one room and a bath, but this is the industry standard for weekly summer rentals and we actually have a way for the customer to get money back as opposed to most companies that have the policy that you just lose it if canceled.Had [redacted] or [redacted] purchased trip insurance through the company we recommended or many others and it was a covered event, they would be able to collect whatever they lost. However, since they technically haven't lost their deposit until August 16th which is the date that they can pay the second half if the property is still available and come, there is still a chance that the weeks will be rented. I have told [redacted] this many times but he is impatient and will not listen.The second payment of $2175.00 is due by 8/16 and if she doesn't make that payment, she is in default of the contract and will not be able to reinstate it if it is still open and the owner can rent the weeks at any price that they want and no refund would be forthcoming even if re-rented.Bottom line, The [redacted]s rented a property for 2 week, agreed to the price and terms including a very clear cancellation policy and when they wanted to cancel, refused to abide by the agreement that they signed. Although this is the very first Revdex.com complaint that we have received for anything to do with our company, our policy is clear and will be defended and we will not be bullied by threats of bad reviews.We also reserve the right to take the [redacted]'s to small claims court ourselves to compel them to honor the commitment that they made and finish paying for their booking and additional court costs and attorney fees.
