Sand Mountain Motors Reviews (3)

The truck I came to purchase, I purchased a flight from [redacted]. Had check engine light unplugged, no O2 sensors and was running in "limp mode"I contacted Sand Mountain Motors and expressed interest in a 1997 F250HD 7.5L truck. I told them I lived in [redacted] and was willing to fly to Fallon Nevada and purchase the truck if it was unmodified and would pass [redacted] emissions and was in good running condition so I could then drive it back to [redacted]. Upon my arrival I found the following issues;1. Check engine light unplugged2. No oxygen sensors plugged in3. Engine running in "limp" mode (confirmed with OBDII scanner)4. Radio not actually attached to dash 5. Dash had double sided tape holding it in placeThose are just the mechanical issues. I had paid a $1000 deposit on the truck, paid over $250 for a flight, and another $90 in car transportation from Reno to Fallon Nevada. When I confronted them they admitted that the above issues existed, but claimed they don't know how the check engine light was "unplugged", even though you could easily see it since the dash was held in with double sided tape. I asked for my deposit back, and they refused to return it to me. Since they knew I was stranded in Fallon Nevada they told me that if I didn't purchase the truck I would be "stuck there". I contacted the police hoping they could help me get my money back and they told me this was a civil matter and that there was nothing they could do. They also told me that Sand Mountain Motors was known to be a very "shady" dealership. I was lucky enough to get in contact with the [redacted] driver that transported to Fallon from Reno. It cost me another $100 to get transportation back to Reno, and another $250 and 5 hours in airports to fly back to [redacted]. In total I spent $1600 in transportation and 16 hours dealing with Sand Mountain Motors. I was forced to open a fraud case with my credit card to get my deposit back. Sand Mountain Motors is a completely dishonest company. They knowingly attempted to sell a vehicle that was not in proper running condition, and actually attempted to hide the issues by unplugging the check engine light unreal. I learned a *very* expensive lesson that hopefully no one else will have to experience. Do *not* do business with Sand Mountain Motors!!!Desired SettlementThe only thing I can hope is that enough people find out about the dirty way this company does business and they are put out of business so no one else gets ripped off by them.

I purchased a 2004 Hyundai Elantra from Sand Mountain Motors (8-12-16)with 30day warranty. Sold with Bad [redacted] Will not fix or return calls. I purchased a 2004 Hyundai Elantra from Sand Mountain Motors (8-12-16) $500 Down & 30 Day Warranty. I noticed before I purchased it that there was something wrong with the Clutch or [redacted] and asked [redacted] about it. The Clutch pedal was sticking and there was a grinding noise coming from the [redacted]. I addressed it to [redacted] and he assured me he would have it fixed and that all his vehicles sold come with a 30 day warranty (8-12-16). On the Drivetrain inspection which took him less than 5mins it states there was bad clutch seals and had his Mechanic replace the Clutch Master Cylinder (Replaced 8-17-16) which fixed the sticking Clutch Pedal issue but not the grinding noise coming from the transmission. I took Video & Audio of the grinding noise (8-15-16) 3 days after I purchased the car. I took the car to [redacted] (8-18-16) who specializes in [redacted]s and the Certified Mechanic after inspection and symptoms told me the [redacted] input shaft bearing was bad and the [redacted] would need to be removed and the bearing removed from inside the [redacted]. I went back down to Sand Mountain Motors (8-18-16) and spoke with [redacted] regarding the grinding noise and he disagreed with the Certified Mechanic at [redacted] Diagnosis, Stating that they are price gougers and will tell you anything to get your car in there shop and over charge you for things that you don't need. [redacted] stated that it sounded like a Throw out bearing and called his Mechanic over to listen to it. His Mechanic stated right off the bat when he heard the grinding noise that it was just a Throw out bearing and you can drive forever with it making that grinding noise and also I told him what the Certified Mechanic at [redacted] told me was wrong with it and he also said some choice words about [redacted] and how they are a bunch of is and have no clue what they are talking about and they will tell you anything to get your car in there and overcharge you for things you don't need. I told [redacted] and his Mechanic I wasn't going to continue to drive the car with the grinding noise and it needed to be fixed. While we were talking the [redacted] delivery driver was dropping off parts and [redacted] asked her to look up a Throw out bearing for my car and call him with a price. I was still there when she called and the price was like $60 for the bearing. He told me to repair that bearing the transmission would have to be removed so if they were going to pull the transmission it would be cheaper to buy the whole Clutch kit online which came with the Clutch Disc, Pressure Plate & Throw out Bearing. I saw him looking on Ebay and the price was like $7 difference for the whole kit versus just the bearing. I said ok sounds good to me if that's what you think is wrong and it's going to fix the problem then when do you want to do the repair. [redacted] said he would call me the next day to let me know when he would have the parts and could get it fixed. He called me the next day (8-19-16) and said that his Warranty doesn't cover the clutch and I had 3 options. Option 1; Take it to a local Garage he uses for bigger jobs and it would cost me $700, Option 2; He would order the Clutch kit give it to me and I find someone to replace it and I would pay them or Option 3; His Mechanic could replace it and it would cost me $150 and they would need my car for 2 days. I said well if you think that will fix the problem then I would have his Mechanic do it for $150 because I'm disabled and on a fixed income but if after his Mechanic did the work and the grinding noise is still there I wasn't paying the $150 because they didn't go with the Certified [redacted] Mechanics recommendation. He said he would call me when he had the part I haven't heard from him since. I did visit [redacted] on 9-1-16 to have him give me a written estimate and diagnoses of the [redacted] issue. I'm Disabled and on a limited income so want them to honor there Warranty.Desired SettlementI just want the Transmission Repaired or Replaced like the Certified Transmission Mechanic at [redacted] Diagnosed or a refund of Down Payment or a vehicle with no Drivetrain Issues.Final Consumer Response

On August 15, 2014 I purchased a 2002 Ford Taurus from Sand Mountain Motors, Inc. Prior to purchase I was using said car as a loaner due to another vehicle I had attempted to purchase from dealer had a sanction on placed on it for a smoking vehicle that wasnt able to be be fixed to pass emissions. 2002 Ford Taurus was to have repairs done on the Power Steering, Cruise Control. Car was in their shop fro August 15, 2014 to September , 2014. I had notified [redacted] same day I received the car back that it was having worse issues then when it went into the shop and that nothing had been been fixed. They also had done a tune up which now the car misfires upon start up and in cylinder 1, also did oil change and oil filter change, which now oil drips. Fuel filter was changed and now it acts like it wants to cut out. Power Steering pump is completely out prior to this it was shooting power steering fluid all over manifold which was a fire issues. Cruise control wasnt fixed correctly, ignition is always in the auxillary position now and steering wheel doesnt lock and windows roll down without key in ignition. I had spent a month calling and Text messaging [redacted] showing him pictures of what was going on and to this day he has yet to return any of my calls or messages regarding fixing the issues that should have been fixed during the 3 weeks the car was in his shop. I have receipt of what work was supposedly done.Product_Or_Service: 2002 Ford TaurusDesired SettlementI want the repairs completed and done correctly before it causes major break down of the vehicle
