Sante of Chandler

Our mother was there in March. Unfortunately this place is terrible. Her call button did not work for a couple of days, we would call to check on her and was not able to get ahold of the staff, once her call button did work it would take at least 20 minutes for a response or we would have to phone the front desk to get her help. Do to Covid we were not able to get in to help her ourselves. They lost her eye glasses, She was not able to get to the bathroom in time by herself and ended up with feces on the bathroom floor and a towel. This was not cleaned up for a day? When I asked for someone to clean up they seemed bothered and had a bad attitude.

LOOKS ARE DECEIVING!! My mom broke her hip and needed a rehab facility. Being in the healthcare field I visited and researched MANY facilities. I chose Sante Of Chandler because of its bright cheery decor and private rooms. BIGGEST mistake of my life!! The first night at the facility my mom was still in pain after receiving her pain meds. When I asked the head nurse [redacted] to call the md to request additional pain meds she said she would. 20 minutes later when I check to see if she got in touch with the md, I found out she had left for the evening already and did not call. I spoke with R.n. [redacted] and asked if she would call the md to get medication. [redacted] argued with me for a half hour telling me my mom was already on pain meds. I explained my moms pain was severe and in the hospital she was getting morphine every 2 hours to help with breakthrough pain. As my 70year old mom lay in front of [redacted] clenching the bed sheets due to excruciating pain, [redacted] continued to deny my request until I told her my position in the healthcare field. She then supposedly called the md and my mom got additional pain medication over 2 hours later!! Had I not stayed with my mom, she wouldn't have received any other pain meds and lay in horrific pain.

Upon arrival to Sante my mom was constipated. The nursing staff let her go 10 days without being concerned she hadn't had a bowel movement. I called a physician and found out my mom could have fecal impaction which could lead to a bowel tear. Up to this point,10days, the nurses had not reported or addressed this issue. I had to threaten on day 10 to call 911 and remove my mom before the Lpn contacted an md by phone. I requested to speak with the r.n. on duty and she never came. I requested an md see my mom and they never did...Not even the next day. The nursing staff didn't even follow their own written guidelines for bowel protocol. My mom hadn't even been given a dose of Milk Of Magnesia up to this point, even though we mentioned to the numerous staff many times she had not had any bowel movements.

Nobody was concerned that my mom hadn't eaten in 10 days or was nauseous from not having a bowel movement. Nobody checked on her one day for over6 hours.

Basic medical care is not given. Meds are not given on or near time and not given as instructed like with food or on an empty stomach.

I would not send any loved one here. Had I not spent every night for 12 nights with my mom to ensure she was taken care of, I would hate to see what shape she would be in now. She already lost18 lbs from her stay at this facility.
