Sante of Mesa

My mother, [redacted] is currently at Sante Nursing facility in Mesa AZ. I'm very pleased at how well she is doing under this facilities care. The staff have been great. My mothers progress has shown significant gains while under there care. The Nursing staff, as well as the CNA's have been so caring towards my mom. Her Doctor and her PA are awesome. I would recommend this facility to anyone who requires the services they offer. The staff has been very attentive to me and answered all my questions pertaining too my 88 year old mom.

Do not send anyone to Sante of Mesa. They appeared like a good place from reviews but looked at what is still happening today to my family member!

A family member of mine was sent to Sante of Mesa for rehab after a hip fracture in October 2014. She was there a little over a week and was rushed to the hospital in respiratory failure. It was caused by C Diff, a bacterial she caught at Sante of Mesa. C Diff is an extremely dangerous bacteria that attacks the intestines and kills them. Most people do not survive from it. It can live on surfaces for a long time and can only be killed with bleach.

My family member was rushed to the hospital in respiratory failure. Her intestines were so inflamed by the C Diff they no longer fit In her torso and were pushing so hard on her diaphragm she could not breath. She was rushed into surgery and they had to remove a large portion of her intestines that were killed in just a few days. They also had to put on an external ostomy bag.

After surgery her intestines were so large they could not close her torso and had to leave the incision from right below her [redacted] to below her belly button open. She has had many other organs and systems fail as the result of C Diff. She is still in the ICU today fighting for her life and has made it this far only with the help of God.

Family members were there and observed care at the facility. Healthcare workers went from patient to patient with no hand washing or any other procedures for infection control.

Medical staff did not assess correctly my family members illnesses or it's severity correctly. My family member was throwing up and had diahrea for thee days. She carried around a puke bag and informed multiple healthcare workers at the facility. Nothing was done until a family member insisted a doctor see her 3 days after it started. The physician ran no tests for C Duff. A simple stool test would have caught the intestinal bacteria and prevented my family member from going into respiratory failure, enduring multiple surgeries for intestines infected with C Diff, loss of kidney function and more.

No one at the facility called to let us know about the medical emergency. Someone from the facility called a few days later asking if we wanted to pay to hold the room. Talk about inappropriate! Then Sante of Mesa called the next day to come and pick up our family members things. When we did stop to get our family members items, 95% of her things were missing including her billfold, checkbook, credit card, drivers license, and more. We gave Sante of Mesa a list of what was all missing since they failed to inventory her items at admission. We gave Sante of Mesa 24 hours as they requested to do an investigation. 24 hours later we had to call Sante of Mesa and they had not found anything. We had to close all her accounts frantically. Then when we informed the facility we were going that afternoon to file a police report they suddenly found everything and left it at the front desk. No apology or anything.

Do not send anyone there. They are only focused on getting patients, not taking care of them.

My Mother came here for rehabilitation after having hip surgery. She has dementia so I have spent most nights at Sante with her. I have never met a sweeter group of people than here at Sante. The aides, nurses, kitchen and wait staff, physical, occupational and speach therapists are all very sweet, gentle and caring people! A lot of the employees have worked here since the facility opened. After staying here with my Mother and witnessing how they have cared for her and other patients, I can say that I would highly recommend them to anyone needing rehabilitation and care after surgery. I will request this facility for myself if, God forbid, I ever have the need.
