Review: Mr. [redacted] came to our house to check our recessed lighting that was not working. He charged $100 for the hour he came out, which we originally paid by check. He stated we had a "bad" dimmer switch, and that he didn't have another in his truck. I told him he could replace it with a regular switch, however he took our old dimmer switch without our permission. He claimed he fixed the problem, but about 2 hours after he left, the problem with the lighting happened again. I called him right away and he came out 2 days later, as agreed upon. During this visit, he asked if he could give back our check and get the payment in cash, which we agreed to. He stated that now it was a problem with a "sensor" in our lighting fixtures and took one out of the ceiling so he could have the proper model and measurement sizes. He said he would email me with a price quote to fix all four fixtures and we agreed on the week of September 16th when he could come back to complete the work. I did not hear back from him after leaving repeated phone messages on his machine/service.Now, two months later, he FINALLY returned one of my calls. He yelled at me, arguing that he never took our dimmer switch and that he never took a piece out of our ceiling for measurements, etc. I told him that he did take the dimmer switch because all he left behind was the switch plate with an empty socket, and he took a piece of plaster out of the ceiling trying to get the "sensor" piece out, so I am certain that he did take both. He denied my claims, refused to return our property, and claimed he is no longer in PA so he did not get my calls. I've been trying to call him since a few days after he came to our house, so I do not believe he, all of a sudden, left the state and didn't check his business phone/machine for 2 months. When I told him I wanted my property back, he told me I lived in a "fantasy world" and hung up on me. I am very upset that he took $100 cash from us as well as two pieces of equipment from our home.Desired Settlement: I would like a refund of at least $50 (half of what we paid him) because he did not fix the problem as promised, and we would also like our original dimmer switch and the electrical "sensor" piece from our ceiling returned.
