Initial Business Response /* (1000, 5, 2015/07/10) */
After leaving several messages for the [redacted]'s, Mr. [redacted] finally called us back this afternoon. He indicated that his wife had written the letter and agreed that they had not tried to contact our company numerous times without a response, but...

thought they may get something out of this if they contacted the Revdex.com.
Mr. [redacted] acknowledged in the phone call that the issue is condensation and not a roof leak. This was the same issue we 1st encountered on a problem repair dated 10/31/2008.
On 10/31/2008, we inspected a reported leak in the roof at the [redacted] residence. We determined an explained to the [redacted]'s that it was a condensation issue and nothing to do with the roof leaking. They were not initially satisfied with our finding. We explained to them that the attic had been painted with Kilz, which indicated to us that there may have been a problem with moisture before. After we pointed this out, the [redacted]'s stated they understood the issue was due to condensation because it was disclosed in their purchase agreement when they bought the home. The [redacted]'s thought the previous homeowner had taken care of the problem because of what was stated on the home disclosure. They assumed the stain was a roof leak because of the replacement we did in 2006. We explained that they needed to get an insulation contractor out to have the issue addressed, so it did not continue. To help the [redacted]'s we decided to complete the ceiling stain repair at our expense and explained that this will happen again if they did not follow through on getting the condensation issue addressed. The [redacted]'s knew this problem was not caused by us. The [redacted]'s also knew that this problem would continue if they did not fix it.
After reviewing our detailed records and the statements made by the [redacted]'s, it should be noted that these are not factual.
[redacted] Statement 1:
"I called them over and over with no response."

Mr. [redacted] admitted that this statement was untrue and said it was him just throwing a little sand at us, the he laughed. We answer our phones 24 hours a day, seven days a week, 365 days a year.
[redacted] Statement 2:
I recently had another contractor come out who stated the problem is clearly the way the roof was done."
When Mr. [redacted] called us back today, we offered to meet their contractor. Mr. [redacted] stated that it was not actually a contractor who looked at the roof, it was a friend of his who worked for a construction company. He did not want us to meet him nor would he state what qualifications he had or what issue he identified.
[redacted] Statement 3:
"When they finally came out they also blamed the people who did the insulation in the attic but that is impossible because it is the original insulation and is not covering the soffits.
The [redacted]'s have always recognized that there was a prior issue of condensation in the attic and they recognized the previous owners stated this in the purchase agreement. On a service call dated 5/23/2014 the stains were back from the condensation and nothing had been done since our service call on 10/31/2008 to address the attic. It's unfortunate that they are using the Revdex.com to try to get a new roof at our expense. We are still certainly willing to meet with them again and show them the issue is not a leak but condensation.
Sincerely
[redacted]

Initial Consumer Rebuttal /* (3000, 7, 2015/07/23) */
(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)
I unfortunately disagree with their response. They are not taking responsibility for two leaks that are big and other noticeable spotting as well as other defects in workmanship. Mr. [redacted] respectively does not know what is going on nor did I ever speak with him directly. In 2008 they came to my house to repair a 5x5 hole in my ceiling due to a giant leak. This is not a condensation issue. Water was pouring, not dripping in our bedroom. At this point the gentlemen doing the work asked about the kilz. I had mentioned that there was a problem prior that was disclosed to us, but was remediated and we had the house mold tested and inspected before we moved in. There was no mold present at this time. Why would we move into a house with a mold problem with small children?I have a copy of the tested space on file. I would occasionally peak up there over the years to insure there wasn't any recurrence of the problem. There were no issues until after they worked on our house. Weather guard has been informed of multiple problems which have either not been addressed or left unfinished.
1. Gutters pitched wrong and at bad angles allowing for water to flow back towards house with the gutter covers at the angle they are at.
2. Giant leak in my garage which they stated they would repair that has not been completed. The leak has been fixed, but wall is in disrepair. As well as extending staining throughout garage roof.
3. Water stains recurring in my bedroom and Childs room.
4. My gable vents are covered in typex wrap which can't help moisture escape. They put up the typex wrap and siding and never cut the hole out to vent across properly.
5. The soft spot is still above my bedroom on the roof when they stated that any boards in need of replacing would be replaced, as there are several soft spots prior and after the roof replacement that are still soft.
6. Shingles are starting become wavy.
The bottom line is they got paid well for a job that was poorly done. The only contact I had with them was prior to and after the work had been done. At no point did they supervise this job. It was subcontracted out and done in the dead of winter. Not ideal for shingles. They say they want to help resolve it, but all they do is tell me the mold is my fault and not even discuss the other issues. Show me a picture of mold existing before they did the job and it's my fault, but they can't because it wasn't there. My other email was written by my wife out of frustration, so if they want to pick it apart go ahead. I never said anything about sand in their face, that is a joke. I have had two people one a friend and another who I paid to look at it. Why do I have to bring someone else out to inspect their problem? Then to demand that I bring them out again is disrespectful. I am questioning their work and that should be enough. My home has a reduced value and the health of my family at risk, that is my concern. If they want to resolve it then I would love for them not to back pedal through their inaccurate notes and try to not take responsibility. If 2008 was just condensation? Show me a picture. I know they took them. I did. What about all the wAter between the wall of my garage and garage ceiling. I am a reasonable person and was nothing but courteous to them. If they want take this seriously fine, otherwise I will pursue my last option. The goal of this work was to increase the value of my home, not to decrease it and put my family's health at risk. I am going cover all avenues available to me to resolve this.
Regards

On July 30, 2015 we sent two more employees from Weatherguard Construction to meet Mr. [redacted] and inspect his home again. They had not been to the residence before and came up with the same conclusion as the others. His issues are due to condensation and not roof leaks. Furthermore, when Mr. [redacted] was asked if the roof leaks when it rains, he stated "No". Even if we were to replace Mr. [redacted]'s roof, which is his desired resolution, this would not fix his interior issues.

At this point, the only thing we can do for Mr. [redacted] is meet with an expert of his choosing and see if they agree with Mr. [redacted] or us.
Final Consumer Response /* (4200, 11, 2015/08/07) */
(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)
Unfortunately, since Mr. McDonald doesn't want to acknowledge any of the points made in my last response about the initial complaint being written out of frustration and literally interpreting my desire to have have my roof replaced, I guess I will have to file another complaint and help him understand that I want my house to be like the first 4 years I lived in it, without all these problems. My point is simple. Before they worked on my house NO PROBLEMS. After they worked on my house PROBLEMS. They are the ONLY people who have worked on my house since I have lived there. So
why after they worked on my house do I have problems. Clearly not interested in determining why after they replaced all my siding, soffit, facia, roof, and gutters, I am having a condensation problem. Only stating that it has been a problem all along, when that is not the case. I am not questioning what the problem is? I am asking why it is happening, when the only thing that changed from the first four years in my house is the work they did on my house. I will be filing a new complaint so that Mr. McDonald will address the problem and my desired result. Something went wrong with this job and all they want to do is point the finger away from their work, which clearly is the only work done on my house.
