Issues with employees and work done by Brian S[redacted] construction LLC 10/3/14- 10/20/14:
1.There was no respect for our property or our persons.
Example: The roofing crew showed up on Friday 10/3/14 to start work, the homeowner greeted them, offered a hand shake that was refused by the “foreman”. The foreman did not communicate anything regarding the work to be done to the homeowners. The foreman’s attitude was condescending, dismissive and at times untrustworthy. This was displayed in the fact that after being told by the homeowner and the owner of the company he should have Tarped the front of the house, he took the tarp out of the truck and threw it on the lawn. He also told the Homeowner that he didn’t need to call the owner of the company on every little thing. When he was asked about the black marks on the siding from the shingles, he took a razor blade and tried to scrape off the marks. This can damage the siding. He also argued that the marks could not have come from the shingles due to the angle at which the shingles were remove and tossed from the roof and then stated that the siding wasn’t in good shape anyway. On 10/9/14 the homeowners told the owner of the company that we did not want the foreman (Dimitri) back to repair the issues in the list. That evening Dimitri called us twice and on 10/10/14 he showed up on our doorstep, apologetic and stating that the owner of the company had told him to return to us apologize, repair the issues, power wash the house and garage, paint the garage and to do any other repairs we deemed necessary. Dimitri was told to leave the property and not to return. The owner of the company was called and informed, he stated that he did not tell Dimitri to come back, however , it was Dimitri who insisted on coming and the owner of the company had told him we did not want him here.
2.No Tarp to protect front of the house, garage and surrounding landscaping.
Example: there is damage to the siding in the front and side of the house, black marks from the shingles being removed, wood, nails and shingles being left in the landscape beds, in the trees and the neighbor’s yard. The only time a Tarp was used was to cover the back of the house and the deck. Using a tarp was one of the selling points.
3.No ridge vent on the front “L” section of the roof. This should have been done on Friday 10/3/14. Not redone on Monday 10/7/14.
4.Bathroom vent pipe not replaced. Instead the existing dryer hose was reinforced with duct tape and hose clamp and nailed to roof. When asked, the foreman stated he had no knowledge of this portion of the contract; “I’m not a plumber” was his response. When bringing this information to the owner of the company, he stated more than twice “I was doing this as a favor” when reminded that this was on the contract, we were told “well, I was doing this as a favor, I didn’t charge you for it so if it just needed to be repaired that’s what I was going to do”, and “I know, I was doing it as a favor and it has come back to bite me in the butt”. It was eventually replaced by the 2nd work crew that came out to “fix” the issues created by the 1st crew.
5.No communication from the roofing crew. On Sunday evening 10/5/14 when the foreman (Dimitri) was leaving he did not inform us that he was leaving the work site or that he was making adjustments to the structures on our property. On Sunday morning he removed the gate from the fence without permission, when he was finished for the day he left the gate off, the garage door wide open, and his tools and equipment lying all over the yard, we had no idea he had left or had left our property wide open to the public where anyone could have walked in and taken our personal property stored in the garage, vandalized our property and absconded with company property. The 2nd crew that came out to “fix” the issues created by the 1st crew were much more communicative and respectful of our property. They found more issues and repaired those issues without a problem. The foreman of the 2nd crew did express that the work done by the 1st crew was “adequate” but not up to the standards that they keep.
6.Quality of work done. We have no idea if what was promised in the contract was done and the foreman seemed to have no clue what was in the contract. I believe that the owner of the company told the Homeowner that the shingles were to be secured with 6 nails per shingle. The foreman only used 4-5 nails per shingle. We were later informed by the owner that the standard was 4 nails per shingle. Again there was a disparity in the information given by at the time of proposal and after the work was completed. The rolled roof should have been secured to the roof boards when it was put down on Sunday but on Monday morning it was raising up in front portion above the gutter. The foreman told the homeowner that it would take time to adhere as the sun would do this over time, what would happen if there was a cold, rainy few days after this was done? Or God forbid another Snowstorm? There would be no protection against rain or snow damage. Was the ice & water sheeting put up 6’? I’m not sure as I was told by the owner of the company to “allow my crew to do their work” and not to “nit-pick”. I did not bother to call the owner on Sunday despite his request to do so, because I wanted to honor his request to allow his crew to do the job without interference. However the owner was informed that if we wanted to “nit-pick”, the foreman should not have used the dumpster for his own trash brought from his home, he should not have been repairing his spouses vehicle while on the job, leaving the job for 3 hours to run personal errands, having his family at the work site while he was working nor having a crew member that was afraid of heights assisting with the roofing job. As the homeowners we should not have had to clean out the gutters from the debris left by the 1st crew nor pick up the debris and nails in the yard due to no tarp being used.
7.Building permits: per contract, building permits would be obtained from the city of residence. Per call to city hall on 10/6/14, no permits had been obtained. 0n 10/14/14 a second call confirmed that the permits were obtained on 10/10/14. It is my understanding that these permits are supposed to be obtained prior to the work being started.
With all this being said, we do understand that due to an unforeseen illness, this job was not supervised as it should have been. We believe that the 1st crew took advantage of this illness to perform less than satisfactory work on the roof and the policies & procedures of your company were compromised. We hope that it does not happen often, it happened to us and the issues were repaired to our satisfaction. This has left a very bad impression for us and we hope you understand why we will not be leaving a 5 star rating on [redacted] list or [redacted]. In an effort to be positive, this has been a learning experience for us, one we will take to heart and try to improve upon in our next home repair project.
Thank you for making good on the issues and we hope the future jobs that you obtain will be less issue ridden. Stay well.

Review: In 2013, we signed a contract with Brian S[redacted] from [redacted] to replace our roof. I had S[redacted] strip and replace my roof back in January 2014 and it has constantly leaked over the year and a half. After constant complaints and phone calls he had someone come a repair it. We had extensive water damage and had filed an insurance claim. Now, on Tuesday August 11, we had rain and AGAIN the roof was leaking in the SAME spot. And, AGAIn we have water damage to electronic equipment my husband uses for his work. We attempted to contact Sarilsey via text, voicemail and left messages at every contact number we had. We continued to contact him throughout the day and could hear him picking up the phone and hanging up on us. We are still without a roof that is repaired and left with water damage. The original insurance company has told us that S[redacted] is no longer insured with them.Desired Settlement: I want the repair to be done by a new insured roofer once and for all and all repairs to be paid for by S[redacted] as well as him and/or his insurance to cover the replacement cost of damaged items.
