Worst company I have ever dealt with in my entire life. Avoid them at all costs!!

SMI takes concerns and complaints very seriously. This complaint was investigated and after careful review of the file we are confident it was handled in accordance with our procedures and in a fair and appropriate manner.

Just have a claim the first within 5 years it turns out it's going to be a nightmare!!!! As per today it took *** the designated estimator 2 month to get her repair numbers together which at about 700 dollars under our repair cost. We're taking about a sunroom roof damaged by hail two month ago. We repaired it meanwhile to prevent further damage. Now we're ending up to hire a lawyer probably. Qint essence is we're looking to get a other insurance ASAP an you should do so as well.

SMI takes the concerns and complaints of our customers seriously. This customer has been contacted to discuss their concerns and to come to an appropriate resolution.

Complaint[redacted]On December 26th, 2012 the neutral wire on [redacted]'s line broke causing a high voltage surge and damaging all of our appliances and most electronics. Had I left town that day I believe the house would surly have burnt down.[redacted] had previously moved the pole in the back to accommodate a garage that was being built for the people across the lane and they obviously did not check the integrity of the cable when doing so.I am responsible to maintain from the meter socket into the house and [redacted] owns the meter and the line from the pole and anything beyond.Saskatchewan Mutual has decided that this will be difficult to subrogate and have therefore decided to abandon such. By not willing to pursue this issue this leaves a mark against my insurance and increase my rates and deductibles. My agent and the adjusted have previously indicated that they believe this is the fault of [redacted] as they moved the pole and neglected to check the cable before putting additional strain on it and I also do not own the cable or meter.I believe that since Saskatchewan Mutual has decided to take the easy way to close this case then they should also remove this mark from my insurance rating and thus returning my rates and deductibles back to where they were. [redacted]Desired SettlementI am seeking to have this claim removed from my record and the return of the rates and deductibles to where they were before this incident.Business Response I would like to advise that we have reviewed Mr. [redacted]'s concerns and empathize with his situation. We will agree to amend the policy and the claim will no longer have an affect on the insured's rates and deductibles. The amendment will be processed immediately.

I would like to start off with a very sarcastic THANK YOU to SMI insurance for ruining my life.Let me explain. In 2010 I opened an autobody repair business, I invested my life savings, a second mortgage and all my tools and equipment from 20 years in the trade, as well as a small business loan for shop equipment..With an investment like that I wanted the best insurance to protect myself, I was dealing with SMI ins and purchased their 'best' replacement cost insurance policy. In 2011 there was a fired during the night and business burned to the ground. The fire was eventually deemed accidental due to electrical causes. This is where it all went down hill. First thing SMI did was accuse us of arson and fraud, even tho there was no accusations or charges laid by the police. SMI demanded lie detectors and interrogation (conducted by themselves). Then when they could no longer deny us insurance they did everything they could to screw us over. they excluded many things, they depreciated everything as much as 50% or more (how is that replacement ins?) even tho much of the equipment was only one year old .By the time everything was settled SMI paid out enough to payback the small business loan (very small) and to pay our charge accounts(minimal). I personally lost everything, life savings, all my tools and equipment necessary to do my job (cant go get a job without tools), and a second mortgage to max value of my home. Not a chance of reopening business. This sent me into a depressed state which lasted several years. I did everything I could to replace some tools in order to get employment to support my family (i am single parent). I am employed full time and struggle monthly (live check to check) trying to pay the bills and keep creditors away. I can not catch up or even start to get ahead on the mortgages. All I can say is thank you SMI insurance for destroying my life, my dreams and my livelihood with your false claims of being insured. ","neg-1
