Saslow's Jewelers Reviews (1)

Review: , on March 25, 2013 after saving money for a while my husband took me to the Henebrys at Valley View Mall to purchase a diamond ring and a wedding band for me. After looking in several stores we found one there that was in our budget, however today May 12, 2013 I went into that store to sell it back to them. I feel like the store committed FRAUD with this ring for one, my receipt states and the salesman that day told me It was 14kt white gold and I did not notice until the last few days that it is in fact a 10KT white gold not what is on my receipt nor what I was told we were buying. Second, the sales person working today when I went into the store ( [redacted] ) informed me pretty much that my ring was worth about $51.00 so tell me how a ring can lose $300 in value in 47 days. I feel like I was taken on this ring. He was trying to get me to trade it in, I did not want to do that and will not especially now that I found out that I paid $349 for a ring worth 51.00. I am on limited income and cant afford to be screwed over by this company again. I would have taken it back within the 30 days but I have had some serious health issues and have been unable to get it back to the store and then to be treated as I was today, I am appalled.I would like my money back on this since I didnt get what I was told and what is on the receipt. The reason I was taking it back to sell it back to the store is that is does have some sharp edges on the outside of the marque diamond and I have scratched myself with it several times now. I am disgusted with this whole transaction and I intend to pursue this until I am satisfied with the outcome ( getting my money back ) I wasnt given what I was told or what is on my receipt dont know if it was a mistake or a switch on it but I am not happy with this.Desired Settlement: I want my money back. Feel like I was a victim of fraud ..did not get what I was told or described.

Response:

Let me start off by saying that my staff and I work hard to take care of all of our customers and handle al! situations as they might arise. I have been in the jewelry industry for nearly 25 years, and with Henebry's Jewelers now for nearly ten of them, nine of which I have managed this Valley View location. It is really disheartening and I take it personal when any customer is dissatisfied with our goods or services. I am especially affected since I was the one who conversed with Mrs. [redacted] on Mothers Day Sunday May 12th. Although Mrs. [redacted] and myself have a somewhat different account of what transpired that day 1 would like to resolve this as much as I am sure she does. Mrs. [redacted] came in that day and inquired that she would like to sell the ring in question) I did not recognize her, but immediately noticed it had our paperwork with it. I then explained that selling this would not be in her best interest, but we would be able to trade it in and give her the same value she paid for it. Since the ring was 47 days old and had been sized and worn, returning it outright is outside our company policy. She then told me that she just wanted to sell it. I did not ask questions because I felt like it was a domestic problem and I did not want to pry into her personal life. I then weighed it and doubled our normal gold buying value in which came to $51.00. I explained once again that this was not the best way to handle it because this is a scrap gold value, and the ring was nearly new. During this conversation Mrs. [redacted] never at any time mentioned anything about me misrepresenting the ring or the sharp edges on the ring that was scratching her. I would have been even more reasonable with her if these concerns would have been brought to light and we would not have had the childish scene that Mrs. [redacted] made at her departure. Some customers had witnessed most of the ordeal and they couldn't believe the behavior. I apologized for the scene and they in turn purchased a one carat diamond from me. Lastly, we have carried this ring for a good while and I am fully aware that the ring is 10kt. gold, and I know that I would have represented it that way. I did however make a mistake when I was writing up the sales ticket. I did state 14kt. on the receipt, so I am fully responsible for that honest mistake. I believe this error was made because I pulled out the catalogue to double check the sale price and it is item #14F (meaning page 14, letter F). Since I did indeed make that error I am more than willing to refund Mrs. [redacted] the purchase price of that ring on the original Mastercard that was used at $349.00 plus $17.45 sales tax which totals $366.45. This is only the right thing to do. Our customers know that we are an honest, reputable full service jewelry store and I hope that Mrs. [redacted] does believe that as too. Please let me know if I can do anything else to help.
