Purchased a vehicle that ran hot along with damaging the engine. Vehicle was not 30 days from purcahse went incident occurred. On 9/26/15 I bought a 2004 Nissan Murano from Saul Auto associate, [redacted] and mechanic [redacted] While waiting to purchase the vehicle I asked the mechanic about the car and he said it was in good condition, low maintenance with all the fluids topped off and had that it had been recently serviced. Since we needed a second vehicle to be able to get our child to the caregivers along with ourselves to work I paid $500 down with the option to pay another $500 by 10/10/15, which was paid 10/7/10. So the total deposit was $1000. At that time I made [redacted] and [redacted] aware that this vehicle was being purchased to be an asset to help our family get stable. [redacted] also repeating stated "if you have any problems or need anything give me a call." So the day of 25Oct2015 I was driving the vehicle when it began to run hot and shut down in the middle of Capital Boulevard with myself, my 5 month old and my boyfriend in the car. I was able to get the car to roll into the driveway of a gas station where it was smoking and would not crank. At that time we began to assess the vehicle and realized it was not something we could fix. I called AAA who towed the vehicle to [redacted] notified us that day that it was the engine. They did not even pull the vehicle into the garage bc they knew it needed to go back to the dealer. The dealer was closed on Sunday so the vehicle could not be towed then so the next day I placed a call to Saul's and was told to tow the car there and they would take a look and help me out. At the time they stated that it was likely not the engine "a lot of times those companies like [redacted] do not know if it's the engine or not. It could be something else." The car was towed to Saul's by [redacted] Towing on Monday, 26 October which would have made the 30 days. I placed a call on Monday evening asking if they would take a look at the car and they responded saying no one had time it was late in the evening but they would take a look on Tuesday. On Tuesday I spoke to a mechanic and he stated it was likely the engine and the car was low on oil. I asked him at that time what the car being low on oil had to do with the car over heating which I received no response. He said at that time that I could buy an engine from them for $3000 plus labor and that [redacted] could help me purchase that. I asked how I could be responsible for engine along with repairs when I did not have the car 30 days. No answer was given so I told him at that point my step father, [redacted] would follow up with him the next day which was October 28, Wednesday, on that day [redacted] went down to Saul's and saw the car had not been pulled into the garage or adequately assessed. The mechanic stated that he had not run a compression test to verify if the engine was truly damaged or what caused the vehicle to overheat but with "experience a s a world class mechanic" he knew the engine was damaged. At the time [redacted] asked him to run the test and also how they (Saul's) would help in this situation seeing as we only had the car a few weeks. Again, they mentioned the purchase of an engine or another vehicle. [redacted] responded to them that they should follow up with him 29October after they ran the test. So, October 29, 2015 came and went with no call from Saul's Automotive. I called them October 30, 2015 to ask about the status of the vehicle at that time the mechanic [redacted] stated that he had run the compression test and head gaskets on the engine were blown. He also stated that I should follow up with [redacted] as it related to pricing of a new engine or the purchase of another vehicle. I relayed [redacted] that the reason or the car was to be an asset and that at this point it had become a liability and at this point my stepdad would follow up because I did not know a lot about cars or engines. Now we are at a standstill with one car once again which the point of the purchase was to have 2 vehicles. I feel that Saul's knew the engine was bad.Desired SettlementI feel Saul's should replace the vehicle, offer the purchase of a new vehicle with no penalty or fix the vehicle. The consumer called and said that the complaint had been resolved.

False Repossession of vehicle and being charged a repo fee.On Friday July 24,2015 I was leaving work and walked into the parking lot and the [redacted] was gone. I called Sauls Motor to see if they picked it up and I was informed that it was picked up because the insurance was lapsed. When I called my insurance company and informed them of teh situation they quickly remenied the problem and faxed the proper insurance paper stating I have coverage without loss of insurance coverage. I was informed I am to to pay $320.00 repossession fee and the car payment before getting the car back. I asked for the repo fee to be waived and offered to pay a portion of the car payment since it was repossessed before the car payment was due. The offer was refused. I had to find a ride home and I am having to find rides to work. Desired SettlementI would like for the repo fee to be waived and for the car payment of July to be waived as well. This is a total of $611.00. This could have been handle if the party would have notified me of this issue but I was not notified about the situation at all until I called them and was informed about the repo of the car for lapse of insurance.Business Response On 7/21/2015 Sauls Motor Co was informed by mail that the customer had no insurance coverage. It is company policy for customers to carry full coverage insurance. Customer is aware of the company policy. It also company policy to contact insurance company by phone to verify insurance coverage when a notice of cancelation is recieved. The insurance company confirmed status of insurance. Sauls Motor Co contacted the company, and it was confirmed there was no insurance. We notified the customer by phone, left messages, and by email, to please provide us proof of insurance. Customer did not respond. Repo order was issued. The car was picked up by our repo guy. Sauls Motor Co had to pay the repo company when car was delivered to our lot. The customer was informed they had 10 days to to pay repo fee, payment that was due, and provide proof of insurance. Account has to be in good standing to pick up car. Our policy is to hold the car for 10 days to allow the customer time to pay what is owed. Sauls Motor Co has not wrongly rep'd the car.

I was sold a vehicle that had major pre-existing electrical problems. My mechanic showed me that the PCM and ECM were faulty and needed replacement. On Monday Jan 12, 2015 I purchased a [redacted] from Sauls Motors. Sales Associate admitted there was fault with 4WD SYSTEM. Since it was late in the day, I was instructed to bring it back another day for repair. They said "All we need to do is flash the control module". I left with the [redacted] Jan 20th - On my way to work, [redacted] shut down and cut off while driving in rush hour traffic. I pulled over and restarted the [redacted]. I arrived to work and my mechanic performed a full diagnostic. There were 20 different codes, some of which were major problems. I called Sauls Motors and was told to just bring it in anytime. No appointment was given. When I asked for an appointment, they said it would be Monday because they were so busy. Thurs. Jan 29th - On my way to dealership, [redacted] shut down and cut off on highway 70 east. I was furious and aggravated. When I arrived to Sauls, I requested a full refund to return [redacted]. They refused my 'revocation of acceptance' and offered to repair the vehicle. I explained to [redacted] (finance mngr) that the ECM/PCM and body modules would need replacement. A very expensive repair. He assured me they would fix the problems. I reluctantly agreed to leave and come back on Monday for scheduled repairs. Monday Feb. 2nd, I dropped off the [redacted] and left with a loaner [redacted]. [redacted] told me he would call within 3-4 days for a progress report. I received no call until Saturday morning feb. 7th. He said everything was fixed and that he would personally deliver it to my work and exchange vehicles. Saturday feb 7th - [redacted] returns [redacted] to my workplace after business hours, at 6:40 pm. My shop mechanic again tested all the diagnostics while [redacted] was present. ALL the issues and code problems were exactly the same. They had done NOTHING to repair the [redacted]. I received no repair order or proof of work. They completely lied about everything ! At this point, I walked away in total disgust and refused to speak with him any further. For the next 15 minutes he spoke with my mechanic about the whole ordeal. [redacted] suggested he have my mechanic tell his mechanic, Brantley what the issues were. What ?!? Either the mechanic is a total incompetent or they employed some shady ugly business practices. Customer service as we as consumers expect was non-existent. [redacted] admitted that a sales associate of theirs stole my cash portion of my down payment ! The rest I paid debit [redacted] CARD. At this point, I'm stuck with a malfunctioning vehicle. He told me to call back on Monday, I did not as I knew they would not resolve the problems for a bad vehicle they sold me. Wedn Feb 12th - I spoke with [redacted] after I requested to speak with owner, Doug Sauls but refused to speak with me.I told him I was turning in [redacted] in to finance office. I had spoken with regional manager, [redacted] and explained my problems and Sauls refusal to make things right. Friday Feb. 13th - turned in [redacted] in to finance office in Raleigh. I've never had such a terrible experience with a car dealership as this ! I hope anybody reading this stays clear away from any dealings with Sauls Motors in Smithfield. They employ all the shady tactics and sales techniques of a terrible used car dealership. What happened to honesty and integrity in the United States. It definitely is NOT present at Sauls Motors in Smithfield, NC. [redacted], BUYER BEWARE !!!!Desired SettlementI am seeking a full refund of all money paid towards a [redacted] I turned in and no longer own. My down payment and doc fees. $1000.00 + two payments for doc fees of $121.23 each. Grand Total : $1242.46This figure does not include time lost from work OR gas spent traveling to dealership to try to resolve issues. Business Response When Mr. [redacted] complained about his vehicle he said his boss told him he had codes in the computer. We told him we would be glad to check his vehicle out. We checked his vehicle out completely and found no problems. There were only history codes in the computer, not current codes. Sauls Motor Co. gave him a loaner car for several days, so we could drive his vehicle and check it out thoroughly. We were unable to find a problem with the vehicle, and if we had been able to find a problem with it, he had a 1 year, 12,000 mile warranty. Sauls Motor Co. feels that Mr. [redacted]'s boss, who is in the car business, gave him bad advice, Mr. [redacted] could of taken his vehicle to any "approved" shop to diagnose his vehicle, and if they could find a problem the warranty company, would of approved for the repairs to be done. If Sauls Motor Co. could of found a problem with the vehicle, the warranty company would of paid us for the repair. It is unfortunate that Mr [redacted] turned his vehicle in to the finance company. Sauls Motor Co. is not offering a refund of any kind, we did everything possible to help Mr [redacted].

Sauls will not cooperate with me on a warranty I paid them 995.00 for and appears was never submitted to the warranty company by them I purchased a car and an extended warranty on August 8. 2013. The car is in the shop with major mechanical problems. [redacted] the manager had not had time for 3 weeks to go upstairs and retrieve my file. I paid sauls on my [redacted] contract $ 995.00 for a 12 month [redacted] warranty. I have contacted [redacted] and they have no record of ever receiving the money or any information on my car. [redacted] ext [redacted] ,[redacted]. I have called many times and they are avoiding me and will not help me. I have a car I need repaired and they have to explain where my warranty is I paid for. Desired SettlementIf they in fact did keep my money and not submit the warranty as states on my bill of sale , then they should be responsible for the repairs as the warranty company would .they also should be responsible for storage if any due to their refusal to help me . Simply refunding the warranty money would leave me in a position of not being able to repair the car. I want the car fixed by sauls if in fact they cannot produce proof of the warranty. The car is at [redacted]. Sauls will not return my calls or help me in any way. Business Response Sorry for the delay in our response. Sauls Motor Co. did cooperate with Ms [redacted]. We have talked to her many times, about the cars warranty. The car exceedes the mile limit on the warranty. [redacted] returned the check that we issued them for payment of the warranty, and Sauls Motor Co. issued a refund check of 995.00 to [redacted], the finance co. that Ms. [redacted] has the car financed with.

sauls motors has lied to me many times.in october 2014 I got a truck from them. 2 weeks later the transmission went out. so they switched the truck for another car. only this time I had to get the car financed with platnum auto finance. well this car has broke down 3 times. the first was december 2014. it was overheating. they gave it back to me and it over heated on me on the way home that same day. I took it back and they told me they are going to replace the engine. told me it was covored with the warrenty. now I have found out they did not have to put a engine in it. I called the warrenty people and they said all it needed was head gaskets. so sauls motors put an older engine in my car when they didnt have to. no idea what they did with my engine that was in it. now it is broke down again. they told me they are putting a new engine in it again. as soon as they told me that the macanic came out and told me that he replaced the heads and is about to put the engine back in it.so I called pro guard and they said the claim in december was for head gaskets only. and that they have not even made a claim for what is wrong with it right now. they constantly lie to me. I also heard a girl that was there talkin to a sales person saying she got a loner car from them and asking when hers was going to be fixed. the sales person told her that that wasnt a loner. that they told her it was when really she baught that car and that she could not get her old car back.Desired Settlementim not sure if its possible but I would like a full refund of everything I have paid them on the first truck they sold me and the car they replaced it with. I want out of the contract that I signed. I am also in contact with lawyers to see if I can take them to court.Business Response Sauls Motor Co. will refer to the complainant as ** is this response. ** had the Dodge truck he purchased from us for 6 weeks, not just 2 weeks. He brought the truck back because he said the transmission was bad, and just didn't want it anymore. We checked the truck out, and the transmission was good, it had a clogged catalytic converter. We offered him the opportunity to get another vehicle; we sold him a [redacted] with no additional money down. After a few weeks, the car was loosing coolant. We decided the car needed a motor, so we put a used motor in the car; his warranty company would only pay for head gaskets. We decided that would only be a "patch", therefore we install a used motor, and we absorbed the additional cost. A few days ago, ** called us and ask us to pick up his car, it had broken down. We brought the car in and the motor appeared to be locked up, so we got another motor from the Salvage Company, which was under warranty. When we removed the motor from his car, it had 14 Quarts of oil in the motor, instead of the 5 quarts needed. Too much oil will cause a motor to lock up. After the oil was drained from the motor, the motor freed up. Even with this information we still did not charge ** any money. We will not return any of the money we have received from him. His car is ready, and needs to be picked up.

First of all I purchased a 2003 lincoln ls from Sauls I have own this car since September worst experience everSeptember7 2013,Lincoln ls 03,The car has had problems since the beginning I was told if I make my payments on time I could come in trade in my car, they never reported my payments to credit bureau to build. Check engine light was on at purchase with they said they would take care of never did they want give me a trade etc theres moreDesired SettlementMoney back or a trade in cause the car has been giving me problem from the beginning,I have asked for a trade but I was denied cause I have no credit but wait I should have enough with them to do a trade.they said I still have to pay a down payment and they get the car thats not faor. So I think this is bad business and I want my money backBusiness Response We tell our [redacted] customers up front we do not report to Credit Bureau. We do however offer to our customers the ability to trade in their car at any time for a car of equal value as long as their account is in good standing. An additional down payment maybe necessary depending on the vehicle. We can also use the [redacted] payment history to get them financed with a financial institution, as long as they have a good payment record. We have a full service department and are willing to scan and diagnose problems our customers may having with their vehicle. We charge a reasonable rate for repairs done if needed. It is our goal to have satisfied customers and are willing to work with them, but they do need to do their part and keep there account in good financial standing. We have tried to work with Mr. [redacted] and are still willing to do, but he must bring his account up to date. We have never turned a customer away for credit issues, and we do our best to have satisfied customers.
