SavATree / Swingle Lawn, Tree & Landscape Care Reviews (%countItem)

We had SavATree/Swingle out to rid us of a junky messy tree that grew it self between our garage and alley. (probably there for some time) They were great!! From the arborist who was extremely responsive, to the workers. All professional, efficient, thorough, and at a cost I found reasonable. They did the work within one week of my having contacted them. They also removed a broken branch from an unrelated tree at no cost. Definitely recommend. I don't know the current relationship between SavATree and Swingle, but the SavATree folks were great.

Our neighborhood wanted trees trimmed on nine properties, so we contacted SavATree. They came out, took down phone number and email. They went silent on us—we didn’t hear back from them. So we found and hired a different company, who sent us a written estimate and a place to sign and return as a contract. The other company came out March 12 and did a great job.

Then SavATree came out four days later on March 16, when no one was home. Saw our freshly trimmed tree—and TRIMMED IT AGAIN?!? Now this tree looks terrible, we had an arborist come look at it and he said he would never have a tree trimmed like that. I have written SavATree a letter, should our tree die from the damage caused by their incompetent workers, we will bill them for dead tree removal, stump removal, and planting of a replacement tree.

Also, SavATree charged MORE THAN DOUBLE the price of the other company.

Also, forget customer service. I tried to talk to them on the phone about their never sending me a written quote or getting approval from me like the other professional company did, but no luck. I wrote them a letter, they never responded, they just charged me an extra $14.63 Finance Charge.

This
person must have SavATree confused with another company. We have no reason to
believe he ever contacted us. His name and address is
in our system from a 2018 marketing campaign, but we have no visit request, no estimate, no contact phone, no email, no work order, or history of a payment. We hope he
is able to review his records and rectify his situation with the proper
company.Tell us why here...

Complaint: ***

I am rejecting this response because:

1. If SavATree denies doing any work for me, can they please refund my payment of their invoice of $664.63?

2. The work was done at ***. This is my Mom's house, ***. She is 95 years old and I manage her affairs under a Power of Attorney. SavATree took down my name, my address, my phone number and my email, so they know very well that they did work for me, and their attempt to deny this claim is deplorable.

3. I attach a copy of the letter that I sent to them on April 15, to the following address: SAVATREE, LLC, ***. I sent my letter to that address, as that is the address from which they were billing me, and since a phone call with the local Denver office was fruitless in resolving this problem. In the attached pdf file, the second page is a copy of the invoice that I paid on May 6. I request my payment of $664.63 to be refunded, due to the issues detailed in my original complaint.

Sincerely

Regarding the complaint:

The tree looks good, and like others in the neighborhood. The crew said that this particular tree had not been trimmed.
*** gave SavATree’s arborist assistant *** the updated billing information on 3/2 because *** stated that he did NOT want the bill to go to this mother’s physical address. Approving the work.
On March 13th at 10:39am SavATree assistant *** called to let *** know about the schedule date and time the job would be completed. She asked *** to call back if the job was not to proceed as scheduled.
When *** spoke to *** on 3/24, Mr. confirmed that he had received the voice mail but has neglected to call back.
SavATree Arborist *** went out to *** at *** to give her a bid for tree trimming. While at ***’ home she asked *** to speak to her neighbor *** son ***. *** called *** and put him on the phone and *** told him what the cost of the job would be. *** agreed and gave *** his email address and billing info so that we could get the job scheduled. Days later another neighbor, ***, gave *** a call and asked for him to give a proposal for the neighborhood’s trees. The day *** was to go out and give the bid for the neighborhood *** called the office and said never mind they had made other arrangements. *** address was never one of the addresses provided by the *** for the neighborhood trim. The *** already knew *** was getting the work done by us so he did not include her property for the neighborhood quote. When the crew got there *** tree was not trimmed and so they proceeded with the work.

We feel we did the job as requested and regret that the customer did not communicate that he wanted to cancel.

Complaint: ***

I am rejecting this response because:1. In the business response they state: "The tree looks good, and like others in the neighborhood." This is a false statement. An arborist from *** visited our street the week after they completed their work on March 12, and saw that my tree had been trimmed twice, once by *** on March 12 (approved by me by signing their es***ate) and once by SavATree (never provided me with a written estimate) on March 16, and *** said they would never trim a tree the way that SavATree did.2. In the business response they state: "The crew said that this particular tree had not been trimmed." This is a false statement. I am attaching the invoice that I paid to *** to trim this tree on March 12, four days earlier than SavATree performed a duplicate, unnecessary second trimming. Note that the SavATree price charged me of $664.63 for the terrible, unnecessary second trimming is more than double the $265 that *** charged me for doing a good job of trimming (as evidenced by the other trees that *** trimmed on the same street, that were not damaged to the extent that my tree was damaged by incompetent work done by SavATree).3. I am tired of responding to the blatant lies filed by SavATree on this Revdex.com site. Revdex.com reviewer, please do whatever you want with ratings for SavATree, I am done with this and don't want to waste any more of my time responding to their lies.

Sincerely

Savatree came to my house March 25th, 2020. Entered my gate and told my wife they were here to service my Ash Tree. My file said she did not know about this, but the rep insisted, and she let him into the back yard. I was working at the time and was also not aware of this. When I called Savatree they told me I had a re-occurring contract with them since 2016. This is absolutely not the case. I asked them to show me a contract, they did not have that or any approval. They told me a supervisor (***) would call me back but he never did. I called and left a message two additional times. They said they will have to charge me.

SavATree / Swingle Lawn, Tree & Landscape Care Response • May 01, 2020

We apologize for the misunderstanding with the client. Timely services are key to preventing tree damage and we showed a re-occurring service in our records. We have cancelled the service and are issuing a credit.

Revdex.com:

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID, and find that this resolution is satisfactory to me.

I asked several companies to give me a bid for cutting down stragglers from an elm tree that had gotten out of control in the yd of a rental property I have. SavATree was one of those companies. They took a very long time to come to give me the bid, and once they did, I had already found another company to do the job. SavATree is telling me they did the work and threatening to send me to collections. If they did indeed do the work, I never authorized it. I never signed a contract and never set a date for them to come. I felt badly for the young man who supposedly did the work, so I requested that the man who did the work meet with me at my rental property along with the SavATree worker. The man that did the work refused to come, and frankly, he had valid reason. He texted me when he arrived to show he was there, sent me numerous pictures as the job progressed, and sent me pictures when he finished up. I met him that evening and paid him cash for the job. He feels he behaved in a professional manner, and I believe he did, too. I wanted him to come to meet the SavATree worker to sort things out like "gentlemen". I have asked SavATree for documentation of my signing a contract, or committing to the work they offered. They have produced only a word doc. with two sentences of notes on it that appear to be internal memos tracking conversations. There is not even a note about me authorizing the work, and frankly, this type of documentation could have been written after these troubles began. They cannot produce a contract, nor an email where I have authorized anything from them. They have sent me emails that have contained insulting memos about me that have evidently been passed around their office(s). I don't believe I owe them anything because I never hired them, but they are now threatening to send me to collections. I have a very good credit rating. I always pay my bills. I'm hoping you can help us to resolve this problem. Thank you in advance for any support you can provide. Warmly, Renée Sullice

SavATree / Swingle Lawn, Tree & Landscape Care Response • Mar 28, 2020

SavATree takes great pride in delivering quality customer
service and operates with the highest level of integrity.Customer called our company (and apparently other
companies) for an arborist visit to provide an estimate for tree work at her
rental property.

SavATree arborist went to the rental property on Thursday,
Oct 10th and then provided an emailed estimate for the tree removal and
recommend cut stump treatment. The arborist spoke to the client on October 11th
at 7:53 am and she authorized the work. Later that day, at 1:09 pm customer
called asking when her property would be scheduled for the work. We were able to perform the tree removal work
that same day and did the cut stump treatment on November 13th. Attached is the
date-stamped information from our database (the times and dates are
automatically generated by the system and can’t be altered by an individual).
Also attached is a system generated GPS report showing that SavATree was indeed
on the property for the specific amount of time to perform the work.At one point the client realized there was an issue-- another
company took credit for the work that was done by SavATree. SavATree arborist spoke with the client and
suggested she report the other company to the Revdex.com.

We continually tried to get a hold of the client to get
more information and set up a meeting to reach a resolution, but she would no
longer return phone calls. She never
asked us to meet - meeting with a customer is always a top priority for SavATree. We feel it is very unfortunate that this client was misled by
another company. Providing information the Revdex.com on the other company that claimed
to do the work should help to resolve this issue.Tell us why here...

I am writing because Savatree continues to perform and bill me for services on my property that I have not authorized, even though I have notified them three times in writing and verbally to stop. The background for the complaint is that I formerly contracted with Swingle to perform an annual fertilization of a silver maple on my property. When I received notice in March 2018 that Savatree had purchased Swingle, I sent an email to Savatree cancelling the fertilization agreement and all other Swingle-related work. In September 2018, Savatree nonetheless fertilized the tree and billed me for this unauthorized service. I then notified them again, verbally and in writing, that I had cancelled the fertilization agreement, that the September 2018 service was unauthorized, and that I would not pay for it. I also requested but did not receive confirmation that Savatree had cancelled the agreement, but at least Savatree did not bill me again for this 2018 service. Then, last week, Savatree performed another unauthorized fertilization of the tree and sent me a bill for $90 the next day. The date of service was September 23 and the date of the invoice is September 24, 2019. I would like Revdex.com's help in resolving this matter. Also, I can provide copies of the emails referenced above if needed.

SavATree / Swingle Lawn, Tree & Landscape Care Response • Nov 11, 2019

We sincerely apologize for this error. The program has been cancelled a credit issued. We strive for always providing the best customer service, but unfortunately in the case errors occurred in our system that caused the service to be delivered.

I began contacting SavATree in early March 2019 to trim 2 large trees on my property. The company (and its acquired affiliates) has exclusively cared for those trees for 28 years. I couldn't get a call back and when I called the residential line, they kept referring me to the same arborist who did not return my calls. It took 4-5 weeks even to get the service scheduled, causing the trees not to be in dormancy when trimmed and adding cost. I had specifically requested not to have this work done while I was out of town, but after weeks of waiting, it was indeed scheduled in April when I was not in town and without a current written or verbal price quote. The trimming was not completed satisfactorily. About a dozen branches, some as large as 3-4" in diameter- have fallen out of the trees since they were "trimmed". I have had to spend many hours of my own time and labor cutting and disposing of these branches. I disputed the charges of almost $2000 in writing and via phone. When the arborist finally responded and came to assess the work, he emailed stating the service was fine and the trees were "old." Several more branches have fallen out of the trees since then and these incidents were not related to storm damage of any kind. No remedies were offered, including coming back to retrim or providing a discount to offset the issues. I paid 90% of the bill and continued to request attention to this dispute. No one from the company responded. I finally called and asked to the local manager but was given the office manager instead. She assured me that she would talk to the manager and resolve the dispute within 1 business day. No calls or emails were received in response. I asked for them to stand behind their work and to provide a cost reduction of 10-15% to compensate for SavATree's failure to provide decent customer service, avoidable time delays, and complete lack of service and work quality. No response was ever received. I keep revceiving bills for the disputed charges including late charges which have been completely caused by SavATree's failure to respond. There are many quality tree services in Denver. SavATree has permanently lost a loyal customer due to this issue.

SavATree / Swingle Lawn, Tree & Landscape Care Response • Aug 16, 2019

We are very sorry for any miscommunications that may have occurred throughout our time working together. However, we will be unable to credit the amount requested at this time. Upon inspection by your ISA Certified Arborist, we have come to the conclusion that the work was completed and charged according to the work order and the terms that were previously agreed upon. We are sorry for the scheduling mistake, but we stand behind your arborist’s opinion. If you have any further questions, please feel free to reach out to us via email at [email protected] or via phone at (303) 337-6200. We wish you the best of luck with your property going forward.

I received a quote from Savatree for winter watering of 10 trees in our yard. I followed up with the question via email: how much would it be to winter water just the one large tree in our parkway (a Siberian elm). The arborist Bernie replied via email: $325. I asked him to update quote accordingly. This was November 2018. Savatree has been sending me a statement every month since then for “1 Siberian Elm (front parking) Supplemental Watering” $497 plus 6 months of finance charges. I have emailed their accounts receivable multiple times forwarding my email correspondence with Bernie (the arborist) showing his quote of $325 for the one tree. I was initially ignored, and the the last couple times have been told there is nothing they can do about it and it is my problem and I need to resolve directly with Bernie (the tree guy??) Finance charges keep accumulating. I am worried they will send this to collections. I have proven the invoiced amount is incorrect. Burden of proof otherwise is on them and they are refusing to look into it.

SavATree / Swingle Lawn, Tree & Landscape Care Response • Aug 05, 2019

Hi Rene, we are so sorry for the miscommunication and we appreciate you bringing this to our attention. A credit has been issued to you in order to adjust the price accordingly. We hope that this does not discourage you from working with us in the future and we will work hard to earn your trust back!

Be very cautious about the fine print if you had previous service done. They will show up to your house and charge you 200 more dollars per service and then send you a bill saying you’re late. Very deceitful practices. When I called being displeased about the service and the bill, the customer service rep want to question where I worked. I do not understand what that had to do with anything. When they initially came out to trim the trees, the work was OK at best and had to be redone. Make your own decision who you choose for your tree services, but I can say with confidence I will never use them again.

SavATree / Swingle Lawn, Tree & Landscape Care Response • Jul 18, 2019

We are so sorry to hear that you were unhappy with the service we provided you. Automatic renewal of services is a standard practice throughout the industry and necessary to maintain the health of your trees. This was not done without notification and we did return to your property to redo the work as requested. Once again, we are very sorry. We have credited you for the service and we wish you the best of luck with your property going forward!

I hired Savatree (formally Swingle) to remove a large pine tree from my yard.
While I am happy to have the tree gone, I'm not very happy with how the yard was left. There are chips of wood everywhere, a shepherd hook is bent and looks like they maybe dropped a log on it and tried to straighten it. A branch of juniper is snapped off and I thought they had left their broken rake in my yard, but I went out to start cleaning this morning and realized it was my own rake that their men had broken. There is also a large divot in my yard. I complained to them and someone came out right away, agreed that my yard had been left a mess and replaced my rake. I was told they would sent the same men out to clean up. They did come, but brought a nasty attitude with them and told me they didn't clean up because there was pet waste in my yard. I was told they would rake only with a minimal amount of waste (what ever that means), no mention of my broken rake, the shepherd hook or hole in my yard, and I told them to leave. The people in the office are very nice, but the young man that that came to my door was very arrogant and rude. I will not be using their service again.

SavATree / Swingle Lawn, Tree & Landscape Care Response • May 14, 2019

We do sincerely apologize that the cleanup was not to our usual standard and for any unintended damage to items on your property. Unfortunately, with dog waste in longer grass and saturation from the recent rain, a thorough cleanup becomes very difficult. We did replace the rake and straighten out the Shepherd’s Hook. If there is anything else we can do to, please feel free to reach out to us directly at (303) 337-6200. Again, we are very sorry that we did not meet your standards and we wish you the best of luck with your property going forward.

We keep getting billed for services we had not requested for.

I cancelled all service with business in summer 2017. In spring 2018 business performed unauthorized services on my property without contacting me in advance. I made a complaint, and was told I would not be charged for the unauthorized work. They did not send me a bill. On 27 April 2018 I received a statement in the mail that says I am overdue on the unauthorized services.

SavATree / Swingle Lawn, Tree & Landscape Care Response • Apr 30, 2018

Having our company sold and merged a few months ago, we are still working our way through the proposal/renewal process from the old Swingle system and are disappointed in ourselves when these errors are found. With a new software package , we dropped the ball on cancelling the service when we were notified by Ms.. Please be assured that the credit was applied, the account is $.00 due with no active services. The customer has also been changed to non-continuous. We apologize for the error and hope the customer will give us the opportunity to service them again in the future.

I'm a locale business wanted to use a locale business stopped in at swingle in firestone co. Can't get anybody to call me .so I called again they said someone would cal me mon no call again I guess they don't need any new business pretty sad

SavATree / Swingle Lawn, Tree & Landscape Care Response • Apr 20, 2018

Our manager in Firestone talked with Rusty when he came in and advised him that we could not do his job immediately as he requested, the customer was mad and then filed a complaint. The Arborist is following up with him to see if he can meet him to review the property.

Customer Response • Apr 20, 2018

Wow what a lie .incredible why would I lie about this.I spoke with someone who was not even I charge of this apartment.he told me of all the things they could do and that it was a bad year because of how dry it was all I can say is way what a lie

We are being billed for services that we do not believe were completed on our customers properties.
We have requested that a field service order with the tech that completed the service does each time they are on a property. For some reason they will not provide us with this form. However on all other invoices they have provided these to us and we have made payment on all of these.
if these are recieved we have had no issue paying them.

SavATree / Swingle Lawn, Tree & Landscape Care Response • Mar 28, 2018

We have done everything possible to resolve this issue.
Matt S personally hand delivered the service orders of the applications that were completed at the time to the *** office.Brad J and Matt S handed *** the *** account manager the remaining “tech field service orders” when he brought in payment in the form of several checks to our office. We also emailed *** the tech information out of our system which includes the technicians name, date of the application, product names and amount of product used on each location. We have recently discovered that this is the same tactic *** used on another Denver company ***. We’ve since merged with *** and found out this tactic landed *** in court, where they lost.Within the unpaid invoices are orders for a tree removal and stump grinding. *** tried to tell us that the invoice is not proof that we actually were the company that cut down the tree. Seriously. We are and always have been in compliance with the State requirements. Our company does thousands of applications with other maintenance companies who have never registered a complaint with our process. We are assuming *** has filed this complaint to the Revdex.com because they have been contacted by our collection agency.

Customer Response • Apr 02, 2018

Complaint: ***

I am rejecting this response because: We paid this account in full per the information that was provided to us by Swingle as they were threatening lawsuits and so on. to us this is not worth the cost it would be to go to court nor is it worth the time and effort that would have to be put into this by our staff when we are coming up on our busy season.

we still argue the validity of all of the invoices issued as they are still unable or unwilling to provide the documentation for these invoices. However all other invoices that we paid during the year they documentation was provided to us as per our agreement prior to onset of doing business with Swingle.

All we would still like is the field service order which is completed in the field by the technician at the time of service, which were provided to all of the invoices except the ones in question. But they refuse to provide anything but a computer generated form which does not show the work was physically done. and was agreed upon prior to starting any properties and work.

Sincerely,

*** Inc

Very greedy Rip off company, $91 for sprinkler blow out!!! Triple what other companies charge, and they black mail customers into having it turned on in Spring because they tell you that in order for any blow out problems to be covered, YOU MUST also use them at their very high rate to have the sprinkler turned on in the following spring or they won't fix any damages to the sprinkler due to improper blow out!!! So they squeeze more money out of customers!
I am glad this was our LAST sprinkler blow out with this rip off company.... oh, also, they are too greedy and cheap, don't care about veterans or elderly, they DO NOT GIVE A VETERAN/MILITARY OR SENIOR DISCOUNT, don't bother asking! Too greedy and cheap to give my 100% service connected disabled Vietnam and Gulf War veteran husband a discount! SHAME ON YOU! Note: Swingle, Don't bother calling and making excuses! Carola T
