Review: On March *, 2015, I took a down coat to Savitt Cleaners for dry cleaning. I paid $34.75 by personal check in advance. The coat was delivered on Friday, March *. I realized that it reeked of what smelled like perfume. I wear no perfume and am allergic to it. I let the coat hang for a couple of days, hoping the smell would dissipate. It did not. I returned to the store with the coat on March * and explained the problem. The [redacted] denied that there was any scent, and reluctantly agreed to clean the coat again. It was returned to me in the same condition. I subsequently washed the coat in white vinegar resulting in diminishment of the smell, and am considering repeating it in the hope of eradicating the smell entirely. I returned to Savitt and politely requested a full refund since the coat that was returned to me was in worse condition than when I originally took it in. This was denied. The [redacted] said she would refer the matter to the owner who would call me. I left my telephone number and waited for two weeks but never received a call. I simply am requesting a refund. I am a longtime customer of Savitt and am disappointed by this circumstance, and especially by their unwillingness to redress the problem appropriately. I have worked in governmental consumer protection agencies and know so well the vulnerability of consumers and feel strongly that in fairness to consumers, businesses should respond to legitimate problems with thoughtful care. Thank you for your assistance.Desired Settlement: I am requesting the return of my $34.75 paid by personal check. The ticket number was [redacted]. Note that two other items were cleaned the same day, a scarf and a pair of gloves. There was no problem with these.
