I have been using Stephen Doherty of CBD for several years to prepare joint tax returns for me and my wife. Last year, because of a *** episode from general anesthesia, I was unable to put together the information for tax filings but able to review and sign the tax form. This year, my wife has refused to provide any tax information to me. In August, she demanded I sign the tax forms prepared by Doherty without looking at them. I refused, and contacted Doherty 3 times by voicemail and 3 times by email over the next 6 weeks requesting that their worksheet with our documentation as well as the tax forms be sent to me for review and signature. I received no reply. In October, my wife stated to me that "the taxes have been taken care of." I called CBD repeatedly for a week, but the only response was "we will not talk to you; talk to your wife," even when I told them about her actions. I then filed a complaint with Revdex.com and during that process Revdex.com informed me that they had contacted CBD about the matter. I received no communications from CBD during that period. The complaint process has now terminated, and I still have received no communications from CBD.
In my 45 years of experience in dealing with tax preparers, this is an exceptionally poor response to a customer.
