Division Manager: Client Care - Author Royalties

I used SBPRA as a publishing outfit to publish a 20 or so page children's book. After taking over 1200.00 to "publish" my book, they waited until after a major holiday to release it, and 8 months later, after multiple copies have been sold, I have yet to see a dollar of revenue. I came in with all the text, full complete water color pages and everything set. They didn't have to do anything, NOR did they take on any single risk. Their "editor" didn't read my book when the put the author's notes and editorial together, I HAD TO DO THAT MYSELF. Not only did they make money up front on me, but they then get a larger portion of publishing royalties than I do. The company is a sham to get as much money out of a writer as possible, and do very little in return.
I would HIGHLY recommend that if you want to publish a book, of any kind, please go elsewhere. They take money up front (for trademark and copyright checking), and then continue to pursue you for future costs like more marketing (of which they do virtually nothing) or author websites, or setting up [redacted] for you. It's such a hard industry to get into, that each new author has their bad experiences, but there is no reason why a company like this exists. Go to a local joint and get the job done.
