Review: The battery (Athena Smart-30S) on my vaporizor was going bad.

On Sunday 11/**/2015 at 1:50 pm I stopped by a Smoker's Choice location at [redacted] (###-###-####) to purchase a new battery. I picked this location because it was open on Sunday and it was in route home from my son's hockey game in Scottsville.

There was only one employee on the store - Antonio (sp?). I told him I needed a new batter and had two requirements: (1) a unit that would allow me to control variable voltage (2) a unit that would work well with my mini Nautilus tank. He showed me a unit and said this would meet my requirements. I purchase the unit ($89.99 + $7.20 tax), it got put in a bag, and I took the bag to my car. I was with my son and parents, so didn't do anything with the bag until I got home.

When I got home later that night, I opened the bag and pulled out the new battery unit I had just purchased. I read through the manual - no option to control the voltage directly as I had requested. I set the unit to a wattage that gave me a similar voltage to the unit I had been using previously. The unit did not work well with my mini Nautilus tank. Strike two. I found out later from a different store that the unit I purchased was "too much" for the tank I had.

I took the unit back to the store on Monday 11/**/2015 at 1:00 pm, less than 24 hours later to get a refund for the unit.

I first talked to person at the cash register and explained my story. He asked "what complexion" was the the individual who sold it to me. I said "black". Zach then grunted and said "sorry about that". He took the unit to the manager to explain the request. As I waited I noticed for the first time the "No refunds, No exchanges, No exceptions" signs posted around the store. He came back from talking to the manager and said sorry and pointed to the sign.

I asked to speak to the manager, his name is Zack (sp?). I told the story over and emphasized what I had asked for and that the unit that was sold to me did not meet either of my requirements. Initially he empathized and was close to letting me return the unit. In the end he said he could not, and decided to call someone above him named Doug. He was on the phone with Doug for a couple minutes. During the conversation I heard Zach say to Doug that he had an employee on yesterday that didn't know that much about the unit.

The end result was that Doug (whomever he was) would not authorize the return of the unit. I pressed on the issue that the employee that sold me the unit didn't know what he was talking about. Doug's response as relayed through Zack was "guess you should have checked out the unit before you left the store".

I am disappointed that this business believes putting up a "No refunds, No exchanges, No exceptions" sign in their store makes them think they don't have to deal with customers. In this case the issue was an employee that did not have the proper training (which Zach admitted) that sold me a unit that did not meet my requirements.Desired Settlement: I purchased a battery unit that does not work with my tank and does not allow me to change settings based on voltage - the two things I asked for when I walked in the store.

I would like a refund of my purchase price - $89.99 + $7.20 in tax.
