Review: I was contacted via mail by SC Law Group to modify the mortgage for my condo that was underwater due to the economy. I had never been late on a payment and they knew this information prior to getting involved with my case. They ensured me that if I paid them ($3500), they would find a way to refinance my loan at a lower interest rate despite the timeliness of my payments and the fact that I was not undergoing a financial hardship. I paid them $3500 up front for their services (I've recently found out that it is actually illegal to bill up front for this type of service), and after a few months they notified me that the only way for me to refinance my mortgage was to intentionally stop making payments so that I could claim to be undergoing financial hardship. This advice is irresponsible, deceitful, and just plain wrong. I opted to continue making my mortgage payments and asked them to continue investigating other options. I never heard back from them and all recent attempts to get in touch with them via email have been shot back to me. After some research, I've discovered that the company has closed and that many people were scammed in the same manner that I was. SC Law Group's business practices were riddled with deceitful and malicious intent, and it's simply unacceptable that they preyed on people already undergoing stressful financial situations.Desired Settlement: I am requesting a full refund in the amount of $3500.

Review: I received legal notification letter from SC Law Group P.C. Loss mitigation administrative office located at 2081 Business Center Suite Dr 100 Irvine CA 92612 dated Nov 19 2012.. I called the number that was on the notification 1-877-287-0186 because they promised that they will expedite in modifying my existing home loan under HARP and reduce my monthly mortgage payment, receive reduced interest rate , and /or freeze the existing interest at a fee of $3700 to be paid in 4 month. I paid them monthly payment of $925.00 for 4 month but no services were ever rendered to modify the loan. I called my Mortgage Servicer by then but they were surprised that was dubbed and scammed that money since they never conducted any business with SC Law Group.. I feel very cheated since I give all my trust that they will honor their promise but they never did. Any advice on how I can recover this money after 4 years will be greatly appreciated. Also want to alert any home owner out there looking to modify THEIR home loan under HARP not to pay any penny. They can work directly with other lender looking to buy out those bad loan.Desired Settlement: Refund and advice to take this business out of business using the legal process

Review: My husband and I received a letter stating that we might meet the requirements of the new program from the government called Making Home Affordable Loan Modification. After sending in all of our information we were told that we met the criteria and that they would work with us every step of the way through the process and they have had 100% success. After paying them the first payment of $2,250.00 we were told they submitted our paperwork to our mortgage lender and after the second payment of $2,250.00 cleared the bank no one would answer their phones or reply to my emails. a week later they no longer had their web site up!! We were scammed out of $4,500.00 and received nothing!!Desired Settlement: My husband [redacted] and I would like to see our $4,500.00 returned as the SC Law Group did not provide the services that they told us they would do for us, let alone any kind of help with a loan modification on our mortgage! We were scammed and want our money returned!
