Scarborough's Tax Affair Reviews (2)

This client petitioned our services on February 24th 2017.  She signed attached document which states that if you  petition, request, our services for tax preparation and then change your mind, you will incur a $100.00 fee.  We initiated this as we have found some clients do not like...

the amount or lack of refund that we relay to them.  We do our best to educate our clients as well as prepare the taxes.  This client did not qualify for credits wanted with paperwork introduced.  She then went on to make two more appointments and did not show up for those, we normally charge $25.00 per missed appointment but did not in her case.  She went to another preparer who quoted her a refund more to her liking.  We have no problem with that.  We prepared the return and spent time and labor on it thus the $100.00 fee, which she agreed to upon engagement.  This client is upset about the fee and the fact that when it is not paid after 90 days and 3 billing cycles, we will file a mechanics lien for the $100.00 and the fees for lien filing.  No return was transmitted only prepared.

Initial Business Response /* (1000, 5, 2016/01/18) */
Client came in on April 30th with several years tax returns and numerous receipts. On first meeting we sat with him for 1.5 hours and sifted and organized his receipts. This was done as a courtesy to him. This is normally a bookkeeping charge...

of $50.00 or more. Initial paperwork was signed by customer indicating declination of services would incur a $75.00 fee. We called the customer several times and the phone number was not in service. We informed customer on initial meeting that we could not start the return until we had $100.00 down-payment. He agreed to make payments each Friday. We did not hear from the customer except one more time in May when he said that he would be dropping off a payment. He never showed. We called once in May and twice in June, all calls were documented. Customer called January 13th asking for his return. Return was not prepared as customer paid $60.00. He then refused service. We are willing to negate the $15.00 balance due. Signed paperwork can be scanned and emailed for verification. Thank you.
